Why..? Dear LORD why...?

Why do some people feel that you are being a pretentious arsehole if you use more than monosyllabic words when attempting to convey your position on complicated topics..?

Also...

It seems to me that some people are so intimidated by big words that they feel the need to attack your character because of it...

How does a person get to a point in their life where they decide that anybody that has a broader vocabulary than theirs is a dickhead..?

Sometimes people try to understand a post but find it hard when there's too many "big words".

In a debate or argument, it will especially piss somebody off if they can't understand the other person's point or insult.

When big words are used in a joke, other people may get frustrated when they would love to "like" that post since others are finding it hilarious, but they can't since they're just confused.

Personally, I like "big words" (even though I don't use them) since they help get the point across in a more "in-depth" manner.

My personal preference is polysyllabic. ;)

It's a culture of ignorance, be proud to be stupid , and embrace your inner idiocy.

And are also a dickhead and a nazi should they point out the other parties complete inability to use grammar let alone big boy words.

People often use words i do not understand, it can be a little frustrating if it's every other word, but you know what i do? I get a dictionary out or go onto google and i read about this unknown word, and as such come to understand it and learn it for myself :)

confabulating or debating utilizing multisyllabic can be futile one would summize that conversing in a more common idiom would obtain a more disireable sequence and us everyday folk can pick that up as talking down to someone and disrespectfull ya some large words are appropriate but some are not and most can tell the differance a large vocabulary does not make you smarter it just means you have a larger vocabulary.

Had to look em up, i know the definitions, but not the words associated to the concepts :) I never took an A level in English or read fancy books unlike the rest of my family, so dinner time can sometimes be akward, but hey, swings and roundabouts, they have a better vocabulary than me when it comes to some things, and I where it comes to other things :) No point getting mad at someone because they're "better than you" at something, especially something so trivial as a vocabulary, else the whole world would just be mad, well, madder than it is. Be happy with what you know, not what you don't, you could always know a lot less than you do :)

I tend to run into this. I'm not sure why.

It helps that I've developed a thick skin toward the usual insults, which always distill down to a shout of "nneerrdd!"

The tricky part is that I also think and speak this way. it's not an affectation ... in fact I've spent most of my life "unSpocking".

Bottom line ... geek and proud. cn
