Just saw this...awesome info!! thx
I started two Super Lemon Haze this morning, pointed end up. As well we have a kindegarten experiment brewing in the window sill, bag seeds, planted both up and down.

For quite some time now I've practiced seed oriented planting which allows for the quick, uniform emergence of your seedlings. While this concept is practiced widely throughout agriculture it rarely gets mentioned in the cannabis world.

If you've ever started a large batch of seeds before you've probably noticed the random pattern plants can emerge in. A few today, a few tomorrow, some possibly taking up to a week. Or maybe you've transplanted from paper towels to find your root spiraling inside, and later unable to break the soil. Or maybe the seed that has emerge, hull intact, and unable to complete it's cycle.

Often times we are inclined to believe that these plants were runts, predispositioned for failure, or simply not vigorous. The true fact however could be that simple orientation has delayed their emergence. This is one of mother natures many tools for promoting bio-diversity by stunting or culling our plants.

By taking the time to familiar yourself with your seeds and locating the end the raticle will emerge from (pointed end), and placing this end towards the surface, you can achieve a faster, uniform, and more successful emergence rate over non-oriented planting styles.

Crops that sprout evenly, mature evenly, and crops that mature evenly, have better crop yields. While this may seem insignificant or go unnoticed with small crops, for every additional plant you have, this delay in emergence has some negative factor. Farmers spend buckoo dollars for high tech seed orienting equipment, we're lucky to share the pie for free.

Well.... I certainly wish there wasn't anything to update today, but my thermostat got covered up, the fan never come on, and one OG Kush was slightly burned. To make matters worse while I'm watering I find 2 inch worms and about a dozen eggs on the same plant. I take care of that and douche everything down with tobacco water. So all is well right? Wrong. I go to put the thing back under the light and then decapitate it on the ducting. So, It's splint back together, and hopefully will hold, but I'm really beginning to think the thing is cursed.

Anyone want an OJinxed Kush?

Tobacco Water?????........this really happened, my buddy accidently cut his plant in half........we'll say beer was the cause........he grabbed some duct tape and taped the plant back together........it actuallly lived and produced, it only put it about a week or two behind the others....try it I bet it would work!!

Nicotine is a mild pesticide which you can extract by seeping tobacco leaves like tea. I used a whole can of mint camel snus I had lying around from some promo. I was kind of worried about the mint but i've been using it on the clones for a while without problems, and it smells better than just using plug chew like I'd normally get.

I've mended limbs in the past but never tried it with stalk. Normally you're supposed to put vaseline or glycerin on it to seal the outer layer then wrap it in grafting tape. I didn't have any of that and painters tape was already at hand so that's what I used. It was wilted up a bit this morning but that's to be expected I guess. If it's not looking better by tomorrow I'll try to just put in the cloner and root it..

This one snapped in half completely. It was just hanging on by a 1/4" strip of skin on the backside and you could see down the hollow of the stem. I'll get some pics of it tonight when the lights come on. Some of the smaller leaves near the snap still haven't wilted so I believe the saps flowing at least.

Hmmm I had it backwards the whole time. Good info. I'll try this in a few days next to the way I used and take progressive pics for ya.

Looks like the bag seeds don't want to sprout but here we go, less than 72 hours, no pre-germination methods. Nice smooth arch, hull correctly aligned to slide off like a condom. These puppies (yes theres another) will both be basking in light in another 6-12 hours.

Tried and true works every time.

If the hulls not coming off most of the time it's more of problem with your depth. I usually go with about 1/4-1/2" but some seeds have to be planted even deeper. I've found the smaller round seeds often have more problems than oblong seeds. If they are pale or immature you have to use your best judgement. I'd rather have a weak seed make it with a hull intact than no plant at all.

Quick update on the OG Kush. It seems to be taking hold and is slowly getting some pressure back in the leaves. I staked it up straight tonight and figure about another week and she'll be good.
