whiteflour's 2000w High Power Flower Garden

I've finally got some sprouts up, and it's long overdue for this show to hit the road.

This will be my first grow in about half a decade and my first
real indoor garden. In fact it's not quite finished yet so this will be a build-and-grow journal. I've always been successful outdoors but my only indoor attempt had a few problems.... the primary being piss poor planning and budget. This time I don't have a reason to let either of those get in my way.

Here's the low down on what's going on.

Grow Area & Equipment
16'x18'x8' bedroom (using 6'x8' area)
2 - 1000watt Hortilux Super HPS w/ Lumatek ballasts
2 - Cool Sun Reflectors
1 - 12" Vortex Fan temp controlled w/ thermostat (80f)
1 - DIY Carbon Filter
1 - Window AC Unit

This is an older pic of the room and it's since been painted with Kilz white. I've put in several anchor points in the ceiling for manipulating the space and coverage area. The windows and floor have also been covered with black poly. The other lights will be used for a dedicated flower camber, with a fifth lamp undetermined.

The exhaust is currently being pushed to the attic by a 12" fan through a 6" recessed light fixture. This is not an ideal setup and more of a temporary solution. Eventually I plan to run a 12" pipe down the center of the room to a carbon scrubber housed within a window unit.

Clone Closet
5'x3'x8'
1 - 4ft T5 blue spectrum
1 - 4ft T8 daylight spectrum
1 - 30 pot DIY aerocloner (1-on, 4-off cycle)

DAY 1 - Seed Emergence & Initial Progress

img003.jpgimg001.jpgimg002.jpg

The biggest two are JTR at about 8 days old. The rest started emerging on Sunday. The OG's, Cole Train, Sour Cream, and Bubba Kush are all about 2 days behind. Those are beginning to break soil and should be up tomorrow.

twin sprout Jack the Ripper

The plan is to veg everything for about 3-4 weeks under 1000watts and spread out to 2000w when needed. The known feminized strains will be dedicated to clone making and moved outside to continue veg. Once the regulars have been sexed and flowered the clone army will organize a followup attack.

That's about it for today folks. Feel free to question, criticize, or spark up a bowl and stay tuned for the updates....

Thanks guys.

Everything is up now except for one straggling Jack and the Bubba Kush. Both have broken the dirt so it's just a matter of time. That makes for an amazing 106% germination rate.... with two sets of JTR twins.

The OG18's have all had a hard time getting out of the hull and may need to be planted deeper than usual (I go 1/4"). To get those off I just put a drop of water on the seed and let it sit for 20-30mins, after a couple repeats they finally burst open. I've never had much success trying to pry them off.

I started running the established plants under HPS last night set at about 4'. Everything looked good this morning and I put them on the patio for full sun. For now I will continue to move them while lowering the light. When there is enough foilage to cover the pots I'll start the 24-hour cycle.

I got some more 4x4" pots today, and transplanted the sprouts that were in trays and peat pellets. I wanted to get that out of the way before the roots had much chance for lateral spread. I also picked up an arsenal of 1, 3, 5, and 7 gallon containers for future transplants.

Most everything that sprouted on Sunday has started their second set of leaves. I noticed a few of those had started to lose a little color and topped them with my soil mix. The dirt's pretty damn hot and still needed time to cook, so I germinated everything in Light Warrior. This will be their first full watering and a nice light feeding.

Basically they are following the same schedule of the two Jacks, which will be moving to 1gal pots soon. They aren't a week ahead for nothing. ;)

The Bubba Kush seems to have petered out on me. Booo Greenhouse!

I transplanted the two Jacks to 1gal pots of FFOF and give everything a shot of Big Bloom this morning. The light is down to about 10" now and if I can manage to drop it another 4-5" I will. So far everything looks good and heat hasn't been an issue.

I'll be topping off the feminized strains with FFOF today, but went ahead and give them a 1/2 strength dose of fertilizer.

Cool deal.

The Jacks have taken to the new home nicely. Still a bit lighter than I'd like but have put on about 1/4" in branch growth. I'll give the soil a few days to kick in then I'll start the nitrogen regiment. I may top these two next week to keep them in check.

The Agent Orange don't seem to have been affected much but the nutes, but everything else is nice and lush. I will bump up their nutes 50% on the next feeding.

Everything is starting to blow up now. Yesterday morning when I checked I could barely make out a 9pt set on the biggest JTR. Today I see it's starting to throw 11 pointers, and the branch growth is going nuts. I had planned to top both about now but I think I'll be better off taking them for clones. Hopefully they'll be female, but at the rate it's going they'll be showing preflowers soon enough.

And the pictures..... I started transplanting the seedling today. Decided to go with 2gal grow bags with these ones. I filled them about 3/4 of the way for 1.25-1.5gal of soil with a bit of room if they stretch out. I'm actually hoping for this last through flower, but if things go south the yied seems soft I'll move up to 3gal next round.

After a closer inspection I'm about 95% sure the biggest JTR is a male. After looking at yesterdays photos I thought I noticed male preflowers, and looked a bit closer today. Sure enough it does appear to be going male. I've kind of been suspecting this since it was stretched out a bit more than the other. I still can't tell enough about it to be sure, but from characteristics alone I think it will be fem.

I transplanted the fem strains last night and put them under 2000w today. I'll finish this week out under veg and may look at going 12/12 on Sunday. Currently everything is about 6".

Both of the oldest JTR appear to be males. But for shits and giggles I popped a couple cuts from them in the cloner. It's still running tomatoes outside, and they've been rooting very fast now that it's getting warm. I'm curious to see how these fair before I bring it inside.

so your running straight hps from start to fin? i tried that and got plenty stretch with my big boys , but with the little 150w they dont do stretch at all which is strange.

Yes. HPS start to finish. I want to get some MH bulbs but that will have to wait until the next round or when I get the veg chamber setup. I just got a really good deal on the 5x1000w so I'm just working with it for now. I think I may sell one of those pick up 2x400w MH in the long run.

So far stretching hasn't been too bad, maybe ranging from about 1/4-5/8" a node. I'm still having to run the lights at about 10-12" though so I could probably cut that down by lowering the light some more. Need to either get the venilation setup proper or pick up another fan that I could run continuously.

well send me a pm. i have a 400w mh fixture that i dont use. and hows the hijack strains out there?

Never tried the hijack. It's hard to find anything other than "elites" out here. Great weed and all but I seriously think this place lacks variety. Basically if it doesn't have purple or kush in the name you can't find it. *rolls eyes*

On another note, I've got my first sign of buds. An Auto Hindu has broken through the saddle. It should be noted that the White Russian and Romulans are getting quite the stank as well.
