What is the Best, or your Favorite, Soil Mixture for Potted Plants?

So I bought my first clone a week ago from a Cannabis Club here in California (Girl Scout Cookies). I was in kind of a rush to plant it because it was my only day off, so I went to the nearest hardware store (OSH) and bought the best organic soil they had (Dr. Earth's Pot of Gold). I also bought a 6" clay pot, so I went home and planted the clone that was in a rock wool cube directly into the soil. I wish I had more time to do research before planting my girl but you live and learn. I didn't realize just how complicated this whole growing process could be.

Anyways on to my question. Tomorrow is my day off again, and I'm going to go to the Club to buy another clone. I have a really nice nursery in my area that supposedly sells Fox Farm Ocean Forest, so I was planning on getting some of that soil and mixing in some Perlite. What do you guys think? Should I add anything else? Also planning on looking for a pot that has better drainage than the clay pots. Any recommendations?

What's your favorite soil or soil mixture/combination? What works best for you?
Is Fox Farms worth it? Is Perlite worth it? Should I add rocks to the bottom of the pot to increase drainage?

There is so much information out there I don't know what to do. I'd love to hear from some people with some real experience with potted grows and outdoor grows. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated, just like all of you, I want my girls to come out as beautiful as possible when it comes time to harvest. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't add perlite to Fox Farm Ocean Forest or Happy Frog (my fav). It already has good drainage. Adding more perlite would just require more waterings (imo).
Smart Pots are the best, I would go at least 20 gallon pots per plant for outdoors.

Dr. Earth makes a good product, but like the others is expensive. For my money, I buy Kellogg's Patio Plus (Home Depot or Lowe's) for $6 per 1.5 cu. ft. bag, then add worm castings. If you are growing outdoors in containers, like Garden Boss said, 20 gallons minimum and use fabric pots. I'm only using the fabric pots for the first time this year (so far with tomatoes) but they won't cook the soil like black plastic and they air prune the roots. I've shifted to Sea Grow water soluble fertilizer from Max Sea. They're identical, except Sea Grow includes magnesium and aloe, plus it's nearly half the price. I grow in the ground mostly, so I'm not an expert, just an avid gardener trying different materials, methods and varieties every year. Buy a book (or six) and read it. I have all the most popular ones. They are always easy to reference.
