How important soil is...

Just a random FYI about how much great soil matters.

The big plants were planted on the 30th of March with an indoor Solo cup start. The tiny plant went outside after sprouting and was planted on March 20th.

The big plants have years old pro-mix, fox farms, and coast of Maine organic soil, all remixed and amended this year. I've added rice husks, vermiculite, 5 cups of diatamcous earth, clay balls. A whole bag of Dr. Earth 12lb 4-4-4. I also mixed in 30 gallons of compost from kitchen scraps(even meat we have no wildlife to worry about on Long Island) and last years left over buds and stalks that were no good(powdery mildew and budrot). The pots themselves are 30 gallons.

The little plant is in whatever soil out gardeners put in 10 years ago. Neat random thing with that soil is it had Himalayan cat nip which you have a hard time finding about on Google but it flowers in colder weather for me that's March and october. That soil has had some ash from a fireplace dumped on it and has grown glorious giants(the photo with me sitting under it last year) before but I must have put the seedling in a poor nutrition corner of it.
