ideals have a slightly wider/stiffer spring tab mechanism

I hasten to say they are "better" necessarily, out of 1000s ive sold and assembled, i think you may be the only person thats had an issue with the BJBs. its my holder of choice because i like the look and the "mini-reflector". i usually only recommend ideals for people with builds over 150V

and as we discussed i always use paste over pads

as for the cobs not lighting up, remember in a string it only takes one bad connection. if i had to guess, id put my money on the tinned stranded wire. this could put the 18 ga diameter (which is already right at the limit of spec) out of spec

i can swap them out for ideals if you wish

email me
Ok, we're gonna strip one down and try solid core first.... Thanks for the really quick response.

make sure its a freshie.

i cant promise solid will fix a socket thats has had stranded in it (and the bjbsreally arent designed to be removed and can bugger up the gripping tab.

give it a shot, lemme know., we'll get you straight

@CobKits Spec says strip length is 7.1mm..... One of the things I notice after looking more closely is that on the 2 little arms have slots in them to pass the bare wire through. I'm sure my tinned 18ga. wasn't making it through these holes which was causing them to deviate. My question now is the strip length.

If I strip the wire at 10mm it passes through the slot in the arm and actually gives it some reinforcement like a spring, but at stock spec strip length it barely pokes out of the slot.IMG_4935.JPG

@CobKits......Success. I would recommend that on your website, that you change it to 18ga solid core only....The tinning of the stranded wire was causing the arm to lengthen on inside thus bowing the arms out off the pad! Please don't approve my review of these on your site and I'll write a new one in exchange. Thanks again brother. The battle goes on!

That really sucks to hear. I looked into it too but seemed like there where too many bigfish miners to comete with, did you manage to break even?

Can you not use it with another coin?

Also, your using a 5 ton chiller? wat the heck?

How many lights are you planning to use? or is this for something else?

I lost my ass.....then, I lost the stupid piece of paper that had what lil I made back (which is now a lot)...we got fucked by timing; our machines worked flawlessly..

We've been looking into the possibility. But to be honest, when you get ur ass served that hard by an industry, you tend to turn your back on it.

Also, your using a 5 ton chiller? wat the heck?

10 ton chiller- 2 stage. Way over sized but it was a screaming deal off craigslist and almost brand new. Only planning on using one of the two compressors for 5 tons. Also, This is why I installed such a large storage tank, to keep the chiller from short cycling.

How many lights are you planning to use? or is this for something else?

I'm planning on cooling 16 lights at around 700w. plus dehumidifier heat. I'm planning on adding another container and trying some vert gardening.

Gee, that sounds familiar somehow...

The only thing to do when you get knocked down is to get back up, dust yourself off and try again.
