Any board with more than 12 members is going to have people of different viewpoints. Nobody changes their mind about hot issues just because you spent 15 minutes finding articles to support your beliefs. Basically the only people that you are "swaying" are people that already agreed with you before you opened your mouth. That is EXACTLY how it all works.

Crying like a school girl who missed prom due to bad grades...is not an effective technique to sway the people who will not be swayed.

These are just general FYIs and not directed at anyone in particular.
