Was looking at them on amazon they are going for 150 a piece atm and im just wondering has anyone used them? Are they reliable? The price seems like a steal compared to other cmh setups ive seen.

Here is the link if anyones interested in it

the truth is CMH is not worth the money they are is industry attempt to fight the LED

this is personal tests
HIDs give u a higher over all yield but the oil returns can be beaten(unless supplying uvB 10k light then equal)
LED gives u about 7/8ths the yield to hids but the over all (top shelf bud ) was 90% of the plant with oil weights

as for the light u listed i would advise not to get ........a open hood design requires a higher rate of BTU from cooling........u could honest do a better plant with a cooltube / double ended HID system

look at Solis tek or Galaxy ballast (select a watt)......dimable system are flawed they are only really effective at the highest watt ...select a watt is just that

trying to save u cash i made the mistake on dimables.......the CMH are flawed due to the limited light waves they can admit

Well i think CMH is pretty decent. I have grown for a couple of years an fucked everything up on the way but i got close to a pound from a single 315 CMH in a 4 x 4 tent with 3 plants vegged for 6 weeks. They are very efficient and have UV in the spectrum.

My next round I will use the 315 and a 200 watt vero cob and maybe a 135 quantum board to see if i can get closer to 1.5 pounds with lights i have sitting around.

Power here costs about 28 cents a kwh on peak. so 315 watts to produce what i need (total draw with fans is around 5 amps) is pretty nice.

LEDs i like this one
https://platinumgrowlights.com/

they offer a 90 day return so u can get the light try it out and if not happy return it before the time is up (use paypal credit get 6 months to pay it off before they charge interest on the money)
they use good chips and drivers the and they back the light for 5 years
https://platinumgrowlights.com/warranty/

i would order from them that way u are sure u get the 5 year protection.....if u buy it from a store or amazon it could be a hassle proving

I've got a sun system 315 watt going. I agree that dimming the watts is pretty dumb. I don't bother doing that. The only way that helped me at all really, is after my seedlings sprouted and grew up a couple inches, it wS nice to be able to dim down the light for its first few weeks of growth. I was trying to avoid any chance of light burn since they are a bit sensitive in the first couple weeks. After that though I kept it full blast. The idea of taking away energy from it seemed like a waste. But, I can't speak for hid setups as I've not tried that.. But my cmh set up is kicking the led set up I had around the block pretty damn good. Better yield so far and quality. It's visually noticeable. Buds are getting very very frosty now and getting closer to harvest. The plants themselves were only supposed to be like 4 feet tall but.... Now I need a step stool... And I've trained it a little bit which took down some height too.. If I stood it up I'd need more than a step stool to see the top lol. I mean I'm always open to new lights, new nutrients and so on. But this is working best for me this far. To each their own though right? My display picture is my cmh grow as well.

its good for the money, get a phillips mastercolor bulb for it and youll never lookback, they run cooler then a 600w hid and your yields plus quality will improve. read the reviews and look at the side by side grow journals. the evidence speaks for itself

I run two Nanolux 315W CMH, stacked bare bulb in a 5 plant vertical grow, have been using them for a few yrs now. I like the results, as the last two grows averaged 26.5 and 24.5 zips off 4 plants, in each grow had one plant just did not preform well.

Very nice. This is my current grow. In a few days I'm going to defoliate the big fan leaves and such as I'm getting near the end of my flowering. I'm about to get the sun system 630watt. Can't wait to add that to my light set up. But I've been wondering if the consistency on the cheaper systems for cmh lights is the same or not. Keep in mind too... The bag of weed these seeds came from were garbage lol... Surprised it turned out half as good as it did so far to be honest.

Grabbed a bag of crappy cheap sour glue weed off getwhitepalm and I mean it was garbage lol... But the seed I pulled out was a female. Lucky shot really lol... Hell. . It didn't even germinate in the container I had it in for two weeks.. Gave up on it and buried it beside a cactus. Couple weeks after that I saw the sprout and went oh shit I better plant this in a pot of its own lol

Which led gave you less yield? Did you use the cheap blurples or quality led? Good led yields a comparable amount more than hid..
Hids have a higher footprint amount ...........where a 800w led does a 4x4 a 1000w hid will do a 5x5

then u need to account for the lens angle ........120 is about the same as hid ........90 is the standard Led lens where u get the 4x4 but several more inches of penetration compared to Hids ....... 60 small foot print but depth u can grow grass under the plant (that strong in penetration)

i used 3 brands
apollo ........cheap brand all in one (great light for price used for side lights to increase oil weight but keep heat down)

led zeal ......ordered strait from makers got a great price on it the unit is call Matrix S....programmable( veg flower UVB) light patterns built in timer and daisy chain able (sold those to buddy using them now with great results back in the black after the 2nd grow) he had pay for the extra hydro gear other wise back in 1 grow

platinum.....nice light they are the 90 day free return the light paid for itself the first grow .......one thing i dislike is the fans suck air from the top and blow down and out the sides of the unit i would of liked it to suck in from the sides and dumped up top

the only way a LED can 100% match a Hid yield amount is if the LED light is over powered say replace a 1000w with a 1500w (actual 800 w).....it is the only way to make up for the footprint lost

I'm sorry, I don't mean to come off like a dick but you really don't know what your talking about. I do agree the leds you have used probably suck, I have had similar leds in the past and yes they don't yield more than hid and possibly even worse, but when I speak of led I speak of quality led such as cobs, samsung pcb boards aka quantum boards to name a few. There's people getting over 3 units from a 4x4 with under 800 watts of led, I happen to be one of them.
LED lights are simple things Cobs include
diodes drivers heat sinks fans.........the units i used only the apollo could be counted as cheap as it was 300w for 99 bucks (but for cheap they have the best full spec model good balance of blue and red)

personally the matrix s lights did the best for me the yield was high the oil weight was well into the 20% returns and the sheer fact i could chain them all to one controller make the work much simpler (the real fun part is messing with the light waves to do experiments on the plants to see what they like the best)

but for this ......look at the numbers
1 foot print
2 Par or lumen rating

a Hid out does LED in footprint but LED out does Hid on depth of use able light ..........show me a LED light that does a 5x5 footprint that is not rated 1500w or 800w actual drawl ( will admit i have not look at the newest models in some time but nothing before could do it )

and Cobs are crap it is just a mini led light shunk down to about size of thumb nail .....tiny diodes on a tiny board with a driver heatsink and fan

Light waves they can admit? Come on now, you have no idea what you are talking about so don't go spreading misinformation. You would kill a 1000 hps with two 315 LEC's all day.

Loving the LEC setups personally. I got the 315. I'm about to get the step up with the built in fan as well on Sunday. Figure we'll since I'm getting the better light I may as well switch it out come Sunday and let it do its thing for the last couple weeks. Why not right? 2-3 weeks left. I'm sure it will help somewhat Atleast lol. Will be better on my next grow.
