Vivosun 315w cmh reviews?

Loving the LEC setups personally. I got the 315. I'm about to get the step up with the built in fan as well on Sunday. Figure we'll since I'm getting the better light I may as well switch it out come Sunday and let it do its thing for the last couple weeks. Why not right? 2-3 weeks left. I'm sure it will help somewhat Atleast lol. Will be better on my next grow.

the whole point in growing indoor is to mimic the best possible outdoor conditions as many time as possible for the plant life ....this is how u get the the denseness and oil weight (thanks to the hole in Ozone)

where do u want to start ok what about a list of light in nano meters (talking the distance between the waves as light is a wave )
290-320 nm is UVB this is the one that makes the plant glands swell up ( UVa is nothing UVC is the bad kind that kills all life)
1000nm to 0.01cm this is IR heat ......the plant needs this as it mimics heat from the sun
the rest of the spectrum falls in 350 to 700

if u want a better break down look up the info

there is a set reaction to plants they have measured it and some lights on the market allow u to play with it including the Str of the light to mimic dawn and dusk but can not mimic the red flash at the end of the day if was able u could put plants into dark cycle in 15 mins instead of 2 hours

every plant strain is different in feed so i was working with light waves too thanks to the MatrixS ......

Holy crap man lol. Obviously I don't know you. I never mentioned you at all. All I did was say I like the lec set up's so far personally...no shit I'm trying to mimic the sun...hence the ceramic metal halide set up... And Jesus man... How much of that did you copy and paste directly from the internet? Chill... No one's claiming anything. Just giving reviews of what's worked better for us this far. Some people like led. Some people like cmh set up's and so on... All have pros and cons.. Anyways... Move on now? No harm no foul?

I agree that dimming the watts is pretty dumb. I don't bother doing that. The only way that helped me at all really, is after my seedlings sprouted and grew up a couple inches, it wS nice to be able to dim down the light for its first few weeks of growth. I was trying to avoid any chance of light burn since they are a bit sensitive in the first couple weeks. After that though I kept it full blast. The idea of taking away energy from it seemed like a waste.
You used the dimmer the way it was intended. Pretty convenient, imo.
I think if someone bought a 1kw light and bulb and only ran it at 600 because they wanted a 600w light, that would be stupid.
I veg with a 600, and flower with a 1000. I didn't want to buy two ballasts, so I got a dimmable one. I put in the 600mh bulb and set it to 600w. Or I put in the 1000hps and set it to 1000w. This is also how it was intended to be used.

the truth is CMH is not worth the money they are is industry attempt to fight the LED

this is personal tests
HIDs give u a higher over all yield but the oil returns can be beaten(unless supplying uvB 10k light then equal)
LED gives u about 7/8ths the yield to hids but the over all (top shelf bud ) was 90% of the plant with oil weights

as for the light u listed i would advise not to get ........a open hood design requires a higher rate of BTU from cooling........u could honest do a better plant with a cooltube / double ended HID system

look at Solis tek or Galaxy ballast (select a watt)......dimable system are flawed they are only really effective at the highest watt ...select a watt is just that

trying to save u cash i made the mistake on dimables.......the CMH are flawed due to the limited light waves they can admit

I swapped 3x600hps is a dialed in grow for 4x315cmh. I get the same weight if not more. BUT using less watts! But cmh is inferior. Lol

Please dont put skilled growers in the same bucket as newbies.


And dont be fooled by the bulb mfg claims of 20khrs of use. I had a couple burn out in about 1yr st 18/6. Philip's 942 premium bulbs

im liking the cmh too. Here’s tonight. I’m using hortilux bulbs rather than Phillips.

There was a test done last yr iifc. It tested cmh bulb makers against each other in a controlled setting.

Philip's 942 and 930 best out ALL, with the exception of ushio. Ushio beat out Philips is UV only!. Albeit by 1.3um points. Barely enough to even bat an eye at.

Also, dont buy into the prefabbed cmh units. Design and bmpiece together your own. A smaller hood = a more direct tighter foot print. A larger hood spreads the light out more, and allowing you to keep closer canopy distances.

Hey how do they compare in your experience?
So far the hortilux bulbs seem about the same it's really hard to tell to much number wise with out my meter. But the main difference is the hortilux is a single jacketed bulb where the all the others are double so they block a bit more uv.

T9 and t12 versions of the 942 and 930 Philip's cmh. Ones single jacket only used in sealed hoods, the other can be used in open, vert, barebulb

That's the crappy part as the single jacketed one in the closed hood the damn glass will block the uv too. Kind of defeats the purpose. The bastards lol.
