lol, that's usually how it goes :D.

my BEST mom i grew from seed, a single survivor from shitty shipping methods (9 of 10 were cracked, destroyed by rollers). hopes down, i neglected the shit out of it, and kept it alive for more than a year before flowering, chopping it back every couple of months, hardly feeding it, never transplanting....

not only was it female, it's the best stuf i have to date, years later :D

so ive pretty much gathered that i should top after thr 4 th node or when the plant reaches a height of one foot.
also after i top em i think it would be then a good idea to start the nutrients. the thing is im in a small town and commerical pot nutrients sold spafically for maryjuana arent sold around here. i have access to a canadian tire, walmart, home depo, and homehardware. so does anyone get nutrients from these places that theyll sware by? for veg and flowering.

for veg in soil, you can go the cheap route and get miracle gro 24-8-16. don't over use, it's high in nitrogen and can burn if fed to frequently.

for flower, the best substitute i can think of is green light root stimulator from lowes. it's 10-20-10, not too terribly high in phosphorous. do NOT get a super phosphate, as this will result in a nearly dead plant with tiny popcorn buds and low resin. pot doesn't like high p, in fact it prefers a 123 ratio in flower (ie, 5-10-15)

we are, just had a hateful individual pop up out of the blue. thread is moving along.

topping early makes for a plant with more plant like tops (ie, two plants, one pot look). topping later makes big bushes.

my preferred technique is to grow to 14'', top, allow sides to catch the new tops, then flower. i've gotten up to 15.5 oz on a single plant indoors, dwc (i'll never do that again :p).

i'd love to see pictures.... you should have some...i mean to brag about getting 15.5 oz off 1 plant indoor dwc...:bigjoint: if theres no pictures....im gonna find it hard to believe....

that just shows your lack of experience. i don't have pictures of THAT plant, photobucket scraped my account. i do have pictures of a couple big ones though, but they're at least a foot shorter than the big one. btw, my friend consistently harvests 1lb+ dwc monsters. he taught me the topping trick ;). i used to have a picture of his too, 17oz cottoncandy in a 5g bucket.

well dammit, those pictures are on the other hard drive. i'll post them tomorrow if you reply, takes too long to reboot.

here's a picture of a branch of a plant of the strain that i grew into a 15.5oz monster. here's a picture of a pretty standard harvest in a aeroflo style sog as well. :p

and here's a picture of smaller, more traditional dwc's...

Topping is essential to my crop. I can turn 16 plants into 8lbs. smoke by topping properly. When you do this you will also get some unwanted growth as well. These are the small branches that are doomed from the start. I do alot of clean-up on the lower branches to weed out the lanky branches and the small dwarfs as well. Topping is somewhat of an art form(Similar to BANZAI). You most likely will have to do alot of trial and error to get a feel for it. I find if you top 2-3 times you can create a nice canopy I would not recommend topping early it most likely will have drastic results. I would only top after the plant has developed multiple nodes and is somewhere under a foot tall. Here is my girls right before I went to 12-12.
and how many watts are u putting those 16 babes under????????????
