Thoughts about Advanced Sunshine #4 soil

What's up grow buddies. ‍
I just would like some opinions on Advanced Sunshine #4 soil. I did use it at one time long ago & went to FFOF & even used FFHF. I'm running into a lot of things I don't like about FF at this present moment. Changed nutes & just ran into problems. Now that I seem to be on the right track, I am wanting to switch over to this at some point, not in the middle of a run. Thank you!

I ran it and it was fine. But it was a mix of peat and coco and I wanted to stop using peat so I moved to Canna Coco and been very happy. But if you don't care go for it it's just another soilless medium
Thank you!!!! I'm definitely going go look into Canna Coco just to check it out. Is there a particular reason you didn't want to run peat any longer? Just my curious brain. I'm learning about new things & ways to run my ladies. I've learned alot about FFOF & their Happy Frog. My lil ladies loved HF at 1st, then started to run into a bunch of issues. Put them into a 50/50 of HF &FFOF, & issue after issue. I also changed nutes at that time, but nothing but problems & a lot of gnats out of the new soil. Maybe it's a coincidence, idk, that's where I'm learning. Thank you for your time & advice!!!

Peat holds more water and I tend to water heavily so coco is perfect for me and Canna's Coco is easy although a little more expensive. I cut it about 50% with xlg perlite. I then used the old coco to amend my backyard's soil so it's been working out well for me. It all depends on what fits your particular needs considering your grow style and climate. It's all fun, flexibility and learning, growing cannabis provides a rich environment for that.

Coco - forget leaving town unless someone you know who’s actually trustworthy takes over the multiple feedings or watering daily. Faithfully. Without missing it. If you are having trouble in peat I’ll predict trouble with coco.
This right here is one reason I have NEVER even attempted coco. I like to vacation from time to time, I work long hours sometimes as much as 16-24 and sometimes that happens multiple times a week. I also have a life outside of both of those things and growing. Soil allows me to still have a life as I’m not interested in dealing with everything else that comes with automatic feeding. When you start trusting other people to help you out one of two things or both happens. Your shit gets neglected somehow, you end up getting robbed or worse, both. I stick to soil and grow with my girl. Other than her nobody is ever introduced to my grow not even family. It’s better that way for everybody. With all that said I love Roots Organics 707 and have never had an issue. I used to like FFOF but felt the quality really went down hill over the years and now will only use it for clones in solo cups.

Yeah I'd stick to promix then, the HP can go as many as 3 days in between feedings. I prefer coco because I can keep things more consistent day in and out vs Promix where its more of a roller coaster effect due to the less frequent fertigation intervals. I still get fantastic results with ProMix but I also notice it dirties the fuck out of my PVC drain to waste plumbing.

Thank you!!! That's where I'm at, lots of learning. I want to play around with things & see what works best for what I have going on. I like to be able to experiment & see what I learn. Some change & fun never hurts, in my opinion!!!

I prefer ProMix HP over that. But I personally quit using it, too much of a hassle to break the bales apart when they're dry. I went back to mother earth coco/perlite in the bag.
Thank you!!! I love to get all the advice & opinions. I'll be doing a lot of a little different things over time & I'm excited to see where I land. It's going to be fun. I know I'll be learning a lot through the trials & errors of it all!!!

I've heard that a lot about the coco. That's where I get torn. I have somebody trustworthy, but, it's easy for things to be forgotten when it's not their daily.

I hear you there about not introducing it to anybody. I keep mine on the down low. Once to many people know, problems start. I used Sunshine#4 years ago, moved, and somehow ended up on FFOF. Used their HF as well. I preferred the soil, because I tried one in Coco, but, wasn't used to it, & wasn't happy because lots of issues due to my lack of knowledge. And the quality of FFOF I feel has went down the past few years, especially past couple of months. Ran into ph issues in HF, ha, another learning experience. So, I decided to mix to 2, 50/50 with very little perlite, & I've had a lot of problems. But, you live & learn. I hopped on here, got some advice & opinions, and started to recoup my ladies. Woo. Thank you so much!!! I've learned so much from this site & I am excited to see where all this great advice & opinions take me and my ladies.

It's okay stuff just hard to breakdown for the price and not that special. It's way cleaner than ProMix HP or HP-CC.
