The stretch is a myth.. prove me wrong

With all that inner leaf jungle you will get 2 pounds of larf .
Do you get larf from lack of defoliation or harvesting too soon? If I have this many bud sites will they all become solid given time? I'll go through and thin out a bit more this weekend. Here's a recent shot from above.

What strain are you running? It's very strain dependent with sativas being the most common to stretch. My current Grape Ox plants only stretched for a week before pushing out pistils. They were 16-18 inches when I triggered 12/12 and only 18-21 inches now.

Indicas just don't stretch much, even outdoors. My last outdoor run my LA Confidential and Purple Kush didn't even double in size. On the other hand, my Blue Dream plants damn near tripled in size in flower. Went from 3ft to 8.5ft in no time at all.

That's what I heard bro. My hybrid is 90/10 sativa dominant I can safely say my longest stretch on the whole plant was 7 inches. I know because it's just a bit shorter than my.. ayayay.. In my case I'd put it down to light strength as I noticed when I raised the seed it was short and stocky from day 1. Also letting the branches strengthen and get woody really helped as I lst'd it for just over 3 months.

Is it perhaps possible that you just got a phenotype that is exhibiting the traits of the indica parent instead? I have something similar going on with my Grape Ox plants. 2 of them are short, bushy, and stubby. The other one is lanky as fuck.

I could be wrong here, but I think the reason that people always bring up stretch isn't so much that it's a for sure thing but because there is a possibility of it overwhelming a grower if they aren't prepared. Kind of sucks too because it makes it impossible to optimize your grow until you've cloned the phenotype that works best for you. I've had strains that don't stretch at all like I thought they would and it had me kicking myself for not planting more plants.

The training also could have had something to do with it, because the screen combined with the topping ends up redistributing the auxins in the plant which results in the stretch happening in different places. Your plant is quite the monster, imagine what it would look like if you didn't train it!

Beautiful plant by the way.

Pre 98 bubba does not stretch at all, period. You veg it to the height you want it to finish at when you harvest.

Then I have had a few sativa that grow like kudzu vines, literally impossible to slow down, stretching clear into middle of flower and even further.

Yup my bubba leaning american kush doesn't stretch at all either but my headbanger stretches like a foot or more. I've noticed F1 seeds also stretch more than clones probably due to hybrid vigor.

Total stretch 2 inches... Anyone else have that? Know why? All the horror stories I read but I never noticed anyone stating theirs didn't move in the 3 weeks... Some pics.. red line was pre flip.. besides that... Looks like I'll get at least 2 pounds off this one plant.
Jokes aside I'm looking forward to seeing this fatten up, the node length is tiny which is why the stretch was small.
In my first grow atm and my budding beauty is in her 3rd week of flower. I'm using 600 watt led atm and tbh *could be the strain, could be the light, could be lst etc* but I haven't noticed really any stretch whatsoever.

Yeah with some strains, if they aren't stretching, they aren't growing and somethings wrong. Often low temps.

The stretch is a myth...what do you mean exactly?

It is very strain dependant. And you can help tame it by playing with lighting K during transition but some plants are stretchy.

I have a few that i put in 10 inches on top of the pot that hit 36 inches routinely. Some indicas that dont stretch 50%

Temp difference, light cycle timing (in veg 24-0 stretches less than 18-6) so many variables.

Grow an Ace seeds sativa leaner and tell me its a myth...:D

I veg with a 4200 CMH and then transition with a 4k area in bloom (boards and strips). Then it transitions to the 3k and far reds area.

Does it work...i have no idea. A lot of the plants do not cooperate regardless of what you do. I just ensure i put them in bloom at no higher than 16 inches to max out under my 5 foot 8 clearance. But if you grow a strain enough you know it is a 50% stretcher so you can veg it longer etc.

I just grew 10 plants under 4 LEDs all of which were 5-6 feet above the plant. Some plants grew tall and lanky, some stayed short and bushy. Many tight bud sites.

Not my choice to have them so high, circumstances at the time. Gave an opportunity to experiment through observation, though.

Stretching = myth.

Vivarspectras the $165 4 quadrant ones. Like I said, not mine or my choice, circumstances.

We cut all the bushy plants but I'll take a pic of what's left of the lanksters and see if I have an old photo w the Bush's. Gimme a few hrs.
