The Start of My New Future Sativa Strain!

I just got 3 high quality seeds out of some mexican brown weed my mom had from 10 years ago. I know the roots of it is some dank sativa, I've smoked it before and it had a very intense head high.

since I have 3, I have enough to start females and males, so I will be inbreeding it to climatize to the northern california desert.

the main reason I'm posting this is because I realize that sativa genetics are few and farbetween nowadays. I'm hoping I have some rare sativa genetics, hopefully the potency is good, if it isn't I have a few other sativas I can cross it to.

the main implication here is that if sativa is almost extinct compared to the way it was decades ago, I think I can do a little bit to help.

and I can also see demand for sativas going up in th e future.

this is more of a journal to post pictures of the seedlings and the bud, I will post back every now and then to post pictures.

I also plan to sell this strain's clones to the local dispensary out here, I will make a good name for it so you may be able to track it down if you live anywhere near me (I'm not going to say where I live but the strain name will help you locate it.)

hope you all are interested, I love indicas and now that I've got the best indica I've ever had I want to expand and get the best sativa I"ve ever had, I will be on a constant search to re-establish atleast a COUPLE unique sativa strains that genetically stand out.
I have seen some pretty good stuff grown from Mexican brick weed seeds. I'd like to see what you come up with.

yeah man so far only one of them is germinating, and its a tiny root, I'm giving them nutrient solution, they're in the paper towel method with a lil hydrogen peroxide.

I"m surprised even one of them germinated... but I imagine it will keep pushing through since the root came out and there are nutrients in the water....

Do you have more seeds if the others wont germ?
Some of the best stuff I have ever smoked was from Mexican brick weed seeds grown out properly.
My friend grew it a lot in the mid 90s, the flower time was pretty long, sometimes upwards of 18 weeks,
but it was worth it. I guess not if you want to sell it, but to have it for yourself, it is well worth it.

I'm sub'd.

I have more seeds in the brick weed but many of them are busted... there may be a couple good ones hidden in there... I'll look if those other 2 don't germ.

since I live up near the top of california, the weather is great for sativas in the summer... they just need to adapt to how quickly teh season closes down (around the 7th to the 12th of october..... sometimes earlier if we're unlucky.)

I'm totally willing to take on this project, I don't care if the plant turns out all spacey barely yeilding shit, I will make seeds when I first start seeing it flowering, then hopefully the subsequent seeds will be a little better able to deal with the conditions up here. cannabis after all, does evolve faster than most plants we know of, if not all.

I'm also planning on exposing the seedlings as soon as they pop above the dirt to 30 min spirts of cold, as I"ve read that the most genetic change occures when a plant is a young seedling in the first week of life. (as I can't just pop them outside, I gotta figure out another way to let nature do it's work....)

That was one thing with the brick weed, not only was the weed crushed, so were the seeds.
I don't know if its just me, but it seems like 90s commercial brick weed was better than todays
brick weed. I try not to smoke too much of it though, only when that's all that's available. I
hate buying an oz, and digging out 5 grams worth of seeds. (would be cool I guess if I planned
to grow them, but I already have plenty of brick weed seeds saved, not sure if it's Mexican or not...)

yeah this brick definitely doesn't look as bad as it can get.... and it's probably around 15 years old now that I think about it.....

15 years ago, I didn't mind the commercial weed, I was in Chicago at that time. Usually never more than $80 an oz.
It's $150 now where I'm at, and maybe 1/2 as good. I got an oz about 2 months ago, it was mostly all crumbs, 7g
worth of seeds, almost no buds, and it wasn't all that potent. It weighed 34g, but it was bad. That was a sad day
for weed.

so I forgot to post back here.... the mexi seeds are growing slowly but surely... 2 of them had a tiny root, I used razor blades carefully intersecting eachother to split the seed open without harming the plant matter.. they are now in soil now and I will know in a few days if this worked or not.

I also have 5 philipine sativa seeds I got from phyre... they haven't germed yet but I may do the seed surgery trick on them if it works on the mexi seeds...

I lived in Mexico for some years, and will be going back again soon, probably this year. I'm gonna see if I can get my hands on some seeds while I'm there.
Some of the stuff I smoked while there was pretty good, some other stuff not so much. I'd like to attempt a cross-breeding with a good Mexican Sativa
with a faster flowering Sativa/Indica hybrid, and see what I can come up with. Maybe the Mex Sativa X C99 X Northern Lights. That might be neat.

cool man... I'm gonna try my seed surgery trick and see if ti works on them. they are alive in there even if they haven't cracked...

Nice man, good luck with this grow, I'm pretty sure you'll end up with great results.
You may need to bring them inside later in the year if they flower for 16+ weeks which it very likely could. Or, you could just end up with a shit ton a super dark purple sativa. That would be interesting.
Happy Growing

I'm not bringing them in to finish flowering... I want the strain to realize it needs to flower earlier.. so i don't mind chopping it when it's not fully mature one year... I will seed it very early when it has pre-flowers so I get fully mature seeds even if the strain isn't completely finished.

the beauty of sativas is that after a certain point in immaturity the high is a LOT better than an immature indica.... of course a fully finished sativa has an amazing high... but I'm trying to essentially create a sativa landrace out here... through climatization and selective breeding.

nice hopefully it has a soary high... I hate it when hybrids get corrupted by the indica high and it ends up being more of a /nothing/ high..

oh those nothing high sucks i think this is going to be some fire though
hell yeah bro!

well my mexi seed surgery trick failed... so I'm not gonna bother doing it with the other ones... if they don't crack they don't crack...nuf said.

HPIM3809.jpgHPIM3817.jpg Here is the Family Skunk i was telling you about Populars. Its been flowering since mid-january and still has 2-3 weeks left. Its close to 6ft tall, a very hard one to control height indoors. Outdoors I have seen them well over 18 ft tall. Not a huge yielder but it sure fucks with your head. In a good way that is!

dude that looks like a ridiculous yeilder for a sativa... that /must/ be an sativa dominant indica hybrid .. . .. I've never seen a pure sativa make buds like that.
