You probably didnt have enough light and it was too far away and they stretched on you.
Next time, keep the cfl's as close as you can without burning them.

get 6 or more 23 watt bulbs. (3) 42 watt cfls is what i use for two plants.

Don't forget to get Daylight and Softwhite. You want the temperature to be around 6500K in the beginning and around 2700K during flowering. Stay away from lights in the middle. Neutral White or something or other. You want red and blue.

Nah shes looking at me like" why do you show these plants more love then you show me ?!!!" lol
and Yea it really is a great hobby ..i find my self sitting and starring at my plants sometimes its just amazing how quick these things are starting to grow man..i have a feeling that the plant in the home depot bucket is going to end up being male so i took 2 clones from my female just to be on the safe side ..iill just throw these clones into flower after they get some roots going by then i will have sexed the other plant

Hydroponics lighting system represents the best value grow light. Its advanced integrated electronic ballast supports both High Pressure Sodium (HPS) and Metal Halide (MH) bulbs, giving the grower the flexibility to choose the best selection simply by changing the bulb, instead of having to own two separate light systems.MH is used for accelerated vegetative growth, then switch to HPS to encourage flowering, fruiting and budding. :blsmoke:
ummmm...yeah...thanks for the copy and paste from a 400 watt hps/mh....im confused...read back in the thread a bit...what is this helping?...if anyone would like to see the full listing...ive got the page which he copied that from...for ummm...more information.....http://strainguide.org/2010/07/400-watt-electronic-switchable-ballast-hydroponic-grow-lamp-system-with-metal-halide-and-high-pressure-sodium-hps-light-bulbs-cord-hanger-gyo2002/

I saw this on instructables and have been compelled to share it.
Instead of using a 10w, use a 40w LED, and you have a DIY kessil. More pictures bellow for those who want a better idea of the price range.

It could be a pretty crazy grow light, given the right LED, right?
LEDengin has a bunch of different colors. The chart is on this page: http://www.ledengin.com/led_products.htm

Either a power cord or busted CFL could be used to connect the driver to an outlet.

$50: 40w Driver

$20: Expensive Heatsink

$50: 40w LED

$5: Diffuser Made for the 40w LED
