Anyone have any suggestions for a 4x12 area? I was going to put 3 of nalite 3h lights at 650w each but I’m open to trying to build my own. I just want to the best coverage/intensity for under $2000.

I was considering getting 3 of the refurbished 550 hlgs.
I think 3 550s over that space would rock it pretty good. If you dont get those, I'd just build something to copy that setup.

You could do 6 of the v2 260w kits for 1800 or 6 of the v1 260w kits for 1400. If you buy the 2 board combo and build your own kits you could do it cheaper.

If your thinking 3x refurbished 550s you can buy the single v1 boards with heatsink for $49 a piece , thats less than $200 for the boards and heat sinks per 4x4 plus either a couple of xlg 240 drivers ,one per two boards. Should cost you $300 per 4x4, say $320 including the chain/ratchet hangers, wire, m3 screws, aluminium for frame.
Plus 10% off listed price with riu10 discount code.

Or $85 per sink and board for the rspec version. (after the discount)

You could get better spread that way and much cheaper than the 550 but the 550 has 3 year warranty where the kit or boards have 1 year.
However sourcing your own drivers from say digikey gets you 7 year warranty on those which is worth doing regardless of where you get the boards from.

I agree completely with corey also you can look into fotop boards; they are 3x1 feet and can run without heatsink upto 200w. It makes for an easier time with connections as you dont need to do as many.

Thanks for the input. If it’s a build I’d like to get as a complete kit, i would rather not have to piece things together myself. I’d like to ease my way into the world of LED builds. What are thoughts on 6 320 v2 rspecs, i know it’s higher than my 2k budget but I’m willing to go higher if it’s worth it.

It would be 3 orders instead of 1. I can give you the amazon links to all the same pieces that come in the HLG assembky kits.
Then you order drivers from mouser or digikey.
Heatsinks come with screws any way you order them from hlg.
Other than getting parts from 3 places, assembly will be exactly the same as it would be if you buy the HLG kits.

personally with that kind of money, i wouldn't buy anything refurbished nor anything from HLG. would build a custom sick ass strip build, and get some of these https://www.cutter.com.au/product/cutter-zge-280-sxp-c/ . https://danklightco.com/collections/all-products/products/ez-connect-8-bar-640w-diy-led-grow-light-kit if you just want to buy a kit rather then sourcing the parts yourself.

does that trellis make harvesting a pain? Looks like it isn’t too bad assuming you can just pull the plant back under. I finally got myself some fastfit trellis support poles to do a trellis this next grow.
Well luckily it was a half ass scrog so it shouldn’t be too bad. I used it more for support and spread ability. Granted there are a couple of mains that had a weeks worth of veg time to weave them through but we’ll have to wait and see lol.
