Every major sport has its issues. For example american football is a fun game, but its played by a bunch of fucking pussies.

That said, I'm all for this thread, fuck the world cup. Swing England getting their ass kicked has made me supremely happy. Bunch of useless cunts.

The real issue with all modern sport is the corruption that comes with money and 'sport'...what was once a very reasonably payment has now gotten fucking silly when you pay millions for a player, then that very player is further exploited and expected to perform like a seal in a zoo, with any fucking sport run by the media tycoons, who have released that they have lost to the web, so try to make gains in the old fashioned broadcast market

I love soccer, actually football, and still play getting close to my 60's. It's a great game, but like anything else commercialized, leagues and FIFA are corrupt organizations that make it all about the money and forget the joys of just kicking a ball around with a bunch of friends or fellow football lovers. What I hate the most of the world cup is it brings out that commercialization and idiots fall for it, buying flags and all that shit, I'm guessing 90% of them in North America have never even played the game, yet come out in droves every 4 years, sad reflection on society...

I grew up in South America, it's their game, nothing else rules like futbol, I'm pretty sure I got my first ball for my baby shower ;)

I watched a soccer game once. They passed around the ball for 90 minutes. Ended 0-0, and all I got to see was some nice passing, tons of dives, and plenty of crying to the ref.

I'm willing to bet more Americans have played soccer than non-Americans have played football by a factor of 1000 to 1, and yet foreigners are always quick to shit all over it...minus our Canadian brethren who also enjoy their own version of the sport.

Soccer is a game we commonly played in public school gym classes from grade school on up through high school ever since the 70's at least. Most of us just thought it was boring as fuck, and missed the blocking and tackling of football.

i was all ready to agree with you, right up to the last sentence that is, lol.. but i agree, it seems more american's are way more into the physical aspects of american football, vs say the more athleticism of european football..

The lack of "athleticism" is what turned me off on the sport.

I'm running around......still running around....don't have the ball....running......still running.......oh there's the ball....sprint for a bit.......kick the ball.....back to running around........running some more....maybe sprint a little....kick the ball.....run around......do some more running.......jeezis this is fucking gay......run some more....oh, there's the ball, let me kick the ball.....O.K., back to running around........fuck this, I'm blocking the next motherfucker that gets close.

lol, i wasn't sure if that was the right word to use or not.. but, imo, i'd say soccer players are probably in better over all shape then a lot of american footballs players.. like you said, all they do is run run run, and run some more when that gets boring.. for pretty much 90 minutes, they're out there doing their thing. very lil breaks in the way of penalty calls, time outs, ends of periods, kick offs, so on and so on..
football, while obviously in good shape, i'd say their cardio is probably no where near as strong as soccer players.. every play, you get to take a 29 second break, different players for offense / defense, etc, etc...
and wtf, why on earth am i defending soccer? lol, i hate most sports, unless a car is involved. :D

IMO they should go back to the one team plays both sides concept, as opposed to having specific offense, defense, and special teams. That'd slow the game down a bit and cut down on injuries.

As it stands now, there's too much emphasis on speed and hitting, and the human body isn't designed to sustain that kind of abuse.

O you mean their not as athletic as fat football players that mostly block other fat football players for 15 to 30 second intervals at a time with 40 seconds of rest in between each play? Yea cool story bro spoken like a true american!

lol, yeah, i wasn't really going to get into it, but since you brought it up, can you imagine a line men running around for 90 minutes playing soccer? again, i'm not saying just because they're big dudes, they're out of shape, just pretty much saying i still think over all soccer player are in better shape..
umm, i watch a lot of f1 if you didn't know, and all of the drivers are pretty much like jockeys, super short, and usually super skinny.. then i keep seeing this commercial, i forget what for, but it's tony stewart running around in his racing suit, and jesus h christ, it's just funny seeing how big he is compared to a gaunt f1 driver.
