Aren't you Canadian? Why are you getting American style defensive at the notion that other countries could possibly be living less destructive lives than we do in the US?
And what happened to that "true cost" talk? Are you against that now?
I guess, never mind, everyone buy a 2.5 ton tesla with a 1200lb battery, I'm sure that manufacturing hundreds of millions of teslas will be awesome for the environment and the problem is specifically with oil itself and has nothing to do with the way we live and manufacture..?
I can't be more clear. EV is a great alternative right now, but it's not binary. Trains are EV, do you want everyone driving trains, or is there more going on than just "EV"? Teslas are big fat pigs and you all love them, but scoff at the even more efficient alternatives. Just a dabble EV is cool, but oh shit let's not get too efficient or else it's terrible!! We call them Granite Bay hippies, where it's just for the cute novelty factor and not actually a commitment to anything.
And the rural areas in the EU where we're looking at range from about $4.50 to $6 per gallon, but it goes beyond gas, they're more efficient with their homes as well. It's in their culture, so it's everywhere. Most of the people in rural areas out there live on farmers markets. Not the overpriced cutesy farmers markets we have here in California, but proper markets like much of the rest of the world. Supply chains from halfway across the country shut down here and people are killing each other. Look into "food miles" if you like.
