Tell me about your Bicycle

Yes it is...breaking is an issue on them. Can you imagine a 50-60 pound bike going 35 mph, trying to stop with bicycle brakes??
Yeah I ride dh. Dh bikes aren't light, go fast and have big brakes. The red bike I posted in the beginning of the thread has 9" brake rotors. I was thinking about putting it on the black bike that's a bit lighter and only has 6" travel. But that will still be putting the bike in the 60-70# range. Probably a expensive bad idea till the weight comes down.

Well my ebike build is not off to a good start. Their specs showed 13 cm needed for the swingarm width...In actuality 15 cm is needed...I only have 13 cm and its aluminum....So, either find another bike or return this motor...or both!

I've already found out the Amazon seller is an asshat so I'll probably be stuck with it.

I did see a Trek 4900 mtb on CL tonight for $400... and there's a bike shop near me I may go check out and see. Just the wrong time of year to find a used bike around here, but we shall see.

What are your goals with the bike? If you’re just using it as a commuter, then go pick up a 7 speed cruiser from Walmart. You’ll need to order some better after market brakes, especially if they’re caliper or linear pull. If you wanna ride on trails, then be happy that it wouldn’t fit on the Hyper, because that bike would almost definitely fail at the most inopportune moment, and seriously injure you.

When my last bike got hit by a car, I spent $125 on a 7 speed cruiser, steel frame. Brakes suck, and I literally exploded the original derailleur, but it definitely gets around.

This is my third bike with this hub motor. The motor has almost 2000 miles on it. I sorta wish I had just invested in a better bike to begin with.

I recommend you just buy something you can ride for a while. Trust me, when you’re on your third cheap big box bike, you’ll be thinking the same.

That's probably great advice, and the same I am getting from others. Honestly, all I have ever ridden are cheap WalMart bikes!!

Goal is was to build a strictly a blacktop cruiser...NO off road use at all. I agree a better bike would be smart!! I was trying to do this without spending a lot of money to see if I even enjoy it.

After doing more research, the type motor I bought with the build in controller are shit. They overheat, shorter life, under-wired, etc. And, of course the POS Amazon seller is trying to worm out of taking it back even though their specs are wrong and the thing won't fit, which other buyers have complained about!

Kind of a funny story...So I got into riding bikes about 6-8 years ago. Before that, walking was my thing for exercise, but I had this "troubled" young teen kid come live with me for a few years, and all his friends were into BMX, so I bought him a bike, and started taking him to the races on weekends...Even in bitter cold weather like this! Anyways, I started biking to ride with him.

But I didn't want to spend a lot, so went to WalMart and bought a cheap mountain bike for like $100. It sucked, of course, so I returned it and got a another one a little better, with their very liberal 90 day return policy. Well, of course the next bike was a POS too, so it got returned.

Then the next spring, I was like, hell, might as well go with the best bike they have...I did, and it also wasn't that great, so back it went. I actually did this for about 4-5 years, lol. 2 bikes a year got me through the season. Last spring someone gave me a bike and so I let Walmart have a break.

Oh, and WalMart rewarded me by asked me to be a "spark reviewer" :o . They send me stuff all the time to test, review, and then keep. Some good stuff...Bose earbuds, a gas weedeater, and tons of stuff for like 2 years now...I have a 1000 watt inverter they just sent....Hell the shirt I am wearing they sent me! I keep hoping for an e-bike, lol...

And the young kid turned out pretty good...He is now in the Air Force serving in South Korea with a sexy young Korean girlfriend.

It's at first you don't succeed, get a bigger hammer, lolView attachment 4810667
Lol I figured it would fit, I just didn’t wanna say it. I had hoped you would just figure it out. Lol why didn’t you put the tire on before mounting the wheel?

Lol good luck! Undoubtedly it will be some of the most fun you’ve had in a LOOOONG time. I was instantly hooked. My first ride, I had already decided to build a more expensive bike...which I’m able to do now because I finally got my insurance claim from the bike accident.
