Tell me about your Bicycle

I just ordered a 1500 watt motor kit today and I am going to try and build a cruiser out of an older aluminum frame 26" hardtail MTB. It's a newer style rear wheel motor that has an integrated controller and supposed to be a lot easier to hook up, and it is controlled by the LCD screen. So no external controller to mount to the bike frame, just a battery...and I ordered a battery from China last week, since spring is 3+ months away around here. Just a little project that I decided to blow my stimulus check on, for something to do. I'll take pics. Got mine from Amazon but sold out there now, but this is the kit. 1500 watts is probably overkill, but we have hills, and I weigh 180 pounds.

I weighed 180 once, but I am 6'2" so I'll use that as my excuse, AND I like food.

180 is a lot for me...I'm 5'10" but I was always skinny and around 150...until I quit smoking. My doctor even laughed at me last year and said "who would have ever thought, you are OVERWEIGHT!".
I have that same voilamart kit, over 1600 miles on the motor and still going strong! Even survived being hit by a car that totaled my bike.

Be careful, that thing is fast...lol. Super fun though, you’re gonna love it

That makes me feel better! You don't see many of them with the built in controller, and that and the reviews saying it is silent sold me...a lot of them are whiney sounding!! I have tinnitus, whining kills me!!

Yes I'm gonna have to be careful...30 mph on a bike is freaking scary fast.

It probably won't be long before they get banned from parks, just like drones.

Technically I have the 1000w version, but it pulls 1500w at full battery. I wouldn’t be surprised if yours pulled 2000w peak. Also, I didn’t see that yours had the built in controller. Mine is the old school version I guess. But I’ve had a great experience with it so far!

Also, I got mine up to 35 mph on flat ground, and I weigh a lot more than you do, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you could hit 40mph in ideal conditions on yours.

Okay I'm reading more

Cool
Last summer I was saying "Nah, I don't want an electric bike, I like the exercise" but after doing some research and seeing these kits they grew on me. And you can build a fast powerful bike for under $500. I'm thinking I can push my rides further and it just seems fun. One thing...I know several people my age or older, 60+ with e-bikes and most every one of them has crashed. all minor so far, but still. I've never had this particular bike over 18 mph so far and that was down hill...I can't imagine 30 mph....or 40 o_O:lol::P Mines a hardtail aluminum frame probably 20 year old mtb that was my friends dads I got for free. I want to put cruiser handlebars on it, probably some better tires, rebuild the fork shocks, etc. and turn it into a blacktop cruiser. We have a few parks with miles and miles of paved trails too.

This kid was a little crude but gives you an idea how easy it can be done...and there are videos done by (they look) 12 year old's creating these things, lol.

I'm thinking "quiet dirtbike" how much extra weight does it add?
