Swamp Growing

when did you ever see a squirrel with a cob of corn and drop it and run away. and leave 5 cobs in one spot. come on man. if you find corn in the woods people put it there animals dont drop that.
as i said before this really did get me thinking about that alot but the hunters around here tend to put them in piles and i did find one pile that looked like some animals had been running off with it because there was random eaton cob trails leading to it haha, but im still keeping the possibility in mind

seems like you must be a hunter, so you got any other tips to avoid hunters? theres alot in my area so knowing how to think like one will benefit me alot, thanks for the advice

find a early strain and stay away from water. also start late june keep the plants small in thick areas and just put more out. even if its in a open field if you keep them short no one will find them. early strains are what you need. or a cliff thats where i grow. but really go get some gold coins or silver dollars. go out when you find a spot that looks good put them down so someone wiill seee them. let them there for a yr. if there still there next yr. your prob going to be ok. big thing is no trails. i like making trails that lead away from my spots. but plant as many dif locations as you can. your going to have a loss. it just happens. youll find the spot. i find the best spots have the worst soil. and when taking in soil you leave a trail. i never take soil in the same yr i plant. and if i do its in winter. hope to help i dont like pots people see them.

wow that was actually alot of help thanks, and yeah now that i think about it people do tend to poke around where a stream or river is (too bad i litteraly grew right next to one last year xD )

im definatly going to do the coin thing though, may not help my situation this coming season but im sure it will in the long run

finding woods without trails is going to be extremly hard though, but i have 2 more spots im going to go scout out tomorrow and from what i can tell by google earth there are no trails, i hope one of these spots works out

thanks for all the help man its appreciated :bigjoint:

i can see my plants on Google earth. a trick i us on my one spot its close to a road 30 yrds. they smell 5 week of flower i drive around tell i find a dead skunk and i throw it on the road near my plants this hides the smell for awhile. do whatever you can to hide them. i even clear spots in woods and let them grow back for a few yrs. thicken up. some times you can plant 1 plant right next to a bush. i mean a 5 foot bush with in a foot or 2 sowhen they grow thy blend into it. gotta be something that dont drop leaves in early fall.

even if you leave somthing else some wil pick up. iv left cds already. and a old wallet. just remeber how you left them. also placeing logs on paths and or rocks you can tell if someone beeen down them if they get moved. one spot i have puddel. i watch for foot prints. in the summer when it drys up. i water it to keep it wet so i can see tracks. a full can of beer works to. i dont recamend traps for people but you can get inventive. i place a mouse trap with emtyp shotgun shell in them around my one spot one time. some stole 10 plants. i didnt want them comeing back for the rest. i put some road kill deer in front of them like they shot them. scared them off. i also have dug holes and placed five gallon buckets in the ground with sticks over them filled them all kinds of gross stuff that sucks. one of my faveriteis just lime. they step in it and they gotta get it off there foot fast or it burns you. also bucket of piss isnt to nice. cost you a pair of nikes.

3 years ago there was a spot on the road that alway had dead skunks, but not smashed, they wre shot.... so I was thinking somthing was up. so i walked it to the woods to look for plants, didn't see any, well 1 week later I had no smoke, and that spot on the road smelled like Skunk , and had Shot skunks, so we went back and looked harder, I walked past them the first time because they were BUSHES/TREES I dont know what to call them except HUGE. we each took a garbage bag full of buds and got out of there (didn't even leave a dent in the amount of weed back there......

moral of the story, dead skunks only work on non growers

This is good advice, planting later still allows plenty of veg time...but more importantly cuts down on the insect problems
To the OP here, you might find this one interesting...although I'm sure companies such as Fox Farm don't find it amusing...lol

Ok thanks for all the tips people, but luckily i have found the greatest spot i could imagine

It is somewhat connected to the swamp, but on the end in the deep woods, its just a large open area about the size of a football field overgrown with alot of random plants, including thick thornbushes so i doubt anyone will be going in there without a reason, has full sun and everything, only problem is that there is a trail through the woods not too far away from it, but you would have to be crazy to go into this place unless you had a good reason, like me ;) full sun too :D

well weed growers and smokers should go by a code. at least i do. i dont steal people plants. so there for it would work fine. but not for a dick like you.

you gotta check the soil. just cause thorn buskes grow dont mean pot will. y is there a clearing? was it old farm land? gota be a reason theres no trees there. dig down 8 inchs take a bag of soil and look up where lacally you can send it to have it tested.

While tempting, you might consider that somebody else worked to grow that and maybe next time you'd consider leaving them alone?

there is a big clearing because it looked like at one time it was a part of the swamp, but the ground isnt wet at all so im pretty sure its not anymore, im bringing in my own soil anyways

Ok everybody, all though i know that people will be hunting there during duck/ deer season im pretty sure this open area is where my plants will be

in the middle of a bunch of thorn patches and random plants, is a quite large thorn patch that a found i could manuver myself through to get to the middle which i cleared out for my plants (it was veryyyy painful lol) only issue is that there as a deer trail running beside the left side and if someone was to look over now they would see the plants, but ive been training the thorns to grow in that direction to block off the path and hopefully by the time spring sets in it will be overgrown

As far as security, no one in there right mind would go through that shit, it litterally took me an hour of unsticking my clothes and crawling under thorns to get into the middle where i cleared it out, as far as sun, it has full sunlight all day with the exception of the thorns in the way, but i can just move and train those out of the way as my pot grows, and for water, theres plenty of streams/swamp nearby and i havent seen any deer corn piles, human trash, etc like i have in most other areas, so i think ive found my spot, thanks for all the help RIU :)

and i agree man, most i would do is get a joints worth (if it were a high yielding plant) just to try out the smoke and see what other people are growing, but taking handfuls and handfuls is just plain wrong, but i got nothin to worry about unless some crazy guy in my area just happens to like to put himself through thousands of thorn stalks haha

....or he could just cut the thorn bushes with some hedge clippers lol...

haha your right, i suppose if someone spotted them and they are a thief they would go that far, but theres tons of other thorn bushes before you even get to that one so i doubt anyone would even be in the general area, its ALOT of bigass thorns tho man i litteraly have to get on hands and knees and crawl under most of it and moves shit out the way the whole time, its gona suck when summer comes and its too hot for thick jackets and jeans haha

not to mention everything im growing this year is mostly indica and the thick leaves from the briar bushes will probably just camoflauge my girls unless you know what your looking for, you do have a good point tho haha

I tried doing some swamp growing, planted 99 24" plants......the critters ate every one of them in 3 days. I was so bummed.....

im not to worried about it, im hoping the thorns will serve several purposes, one camo, two a natural fence, and three as a scrog setup :)

every time i leave my plants i plan on going behind myself as i exit the thorn patch they are in and pulling thorn vines around the plants and entrance so hopefully i wont have that issue, im actually taking another trip now to train the thorns some more and get my space cleared out in the middle (if you dont know what im talking about with these thorns read the rest of my comments on this page)

and im not exactly planting in the swamp anymore, its a location to the west of the origianl swamp with clear skys with no trees in the way, i imagine it was at one part of the swamp but now its just a set of about 10 streams crossing eachother but the land is elevated way above said streams, its almost the perfect location, i do wish it was a bit more remote though :/

put alot of slug bait out. theres going to be alot of slugs in that swamp. my plnats over grew there hiding spot last yr. but uit was hard to notice. at 30 feet away. find a pine tree thats 8 feet tall cut it off and dig a hole and burry the lower half so it stands up and train the stickers to start growing up it.
