Soon, the world will be burning 100 million barrels of oil EVERY DAY

you'd be surprised how many people will survive. people act like if the power goes off the world will end. electric service started in america in 1882, but didn't become widespread until the 1920s. people lived for a long time with no electricity. they can still do it when forced. they lived for a long time with no computer, no amazon, no cell phones, no automobiles, no planes....people can do without a lot....and they were healthier and happier for a lot of it
When I was a kid my folks and I lived for about 6 months on the Malaysian island of Penang, at the time a relatively undeveloped island. We had exactly one light bulb for electricity. No stove, rather a fire pit. No refrigerator, we ate fresh every day. The neighbors were good people who helped us and we helped them.

The island has a Dell Computer assembly plant on it now, along with two bridges to the mainland and half a million population. Its rural isolated charm is gone forever.

Wasn't life expectancy about 40 in 1880?
i don't know. i know 90% of the population wasn't on antidepressants, if you wanted to talk to someone you got off your ass and walked to them, people wrote, and played instruments, and sang and danced together, and didn't have to be drunk to do it. i'm sure some were....
yeah, it wasn't perfect, but i think we need to roll everything back that far to be able to start over. and i think starting over would be easier than trying to fix this monumentally fucked up "system"

A great article that correctly points out that renewables are not putting any meaningful dents in the planet's use of fossil fuels.

The graphs give an excellent representation of the global use of various energy sources- and show that for all the hype and investment in renewables, their total contribution to global energy use is still a rounding error.

If we want to head off catastrophic climate change, fundamental changes must be made.

As long as Millionaire's and Billionaire's are making money off fossil fuels the world will never move forward with renewable energy, The sad part is they all have big families that will pay for their stupidity in the future along with the rest of us. IMHO They just don't care,,

It would be cheaper if the subsidies currently going to oil companies went instead to those doing the saving.
Actually there are some really good incentives happening here at the moment to help homeowners switch to air source heat pumps and GEO, up to $15000 depending. Even giving away free smart stats that normally sell for $350 :).

Sounds like they ruined your simple childhood memories for the shitty reason of increasing their standard of living and educating their children. Selfish pricks. They should have considered you more.

Why aren't you living like that now? You wouldn't even need your family's money.

was it really an increase in their standard of living? i don't know and neither do you. maybe the people who lived there were happy to have a factory come, and maybe they weren't. maybe their children are getting educated, and maybe they're working next to their parents at the dell factory. i highly doubt you bothered to find out before you jumped in with both feet.

Uh, yeah, you are right. This is a totally new issue that has only happened one place and nobody buy Tty has ever thought of it . I sure was hasty. Tty is the first arrogant American I have ever heard complain about the loss of their favorite idyylic vacation spot by modernization.

I will address the meat of your post when I have more time. It is a fairly large issue. Think about it until then.

why are you such a condescending fuck? whats it like imagining you're more intelligent than the entire rest of the world? why do you hide your genius on a weed website? you should be on the news, enlightening the whole world with your genius.
how the fuck do you know if those people are happy about having that factory there? you don't. you're making assumptions, and acting like they're facts. thanks for the attitude, because that's all you've contributed so far....asshole
If you’ve got $14 I’ve got a hard dick for you
