Soon, the world will be burning 100 million barrels of oil EVERY DAY

What I see is a bunch of so-called environmentalists living in houses in car centric suburban sprawl, with 4 lights in their basements trying to tell everyone else they should live in cramped apartment buildings in urban (commutable) areas and that they should find a way to live without cars.

Face it, we're screwed no matter what we do. Imo, your best bet is to make sure your kids are rich enough to be the ones that get to keep living the life and hope they don't end up as one of the inevitable unfortunates who will consume much less. Alternative forms of energy are great, but you'd be lucky to grow our renewable production at the rate our consumption demand grows, let alone replacing what we already use.

I don't know, seems like a little desperation might bring out the best in us.

We were told the earth is getting warmer and wetter, and then that was retracted from social crier with a little censorship.

Exxon loves you and will take care of you. (pay no attention to those +$250 tariff solar panels)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Increased market prices for energy and fuels are driven by a number of factors including a depletion of easily accessible petroleum and natural gas deposits, growth of emerging economies, political instabilities, and mounting environmental concerns. Increasing energy prices will eventually require a significant restructuring or replacement of a portion of fossil fuels by renewable energy technologies such as biomass-based fuels. https://patents.google.com/patent/US8636815B2/en

China needs the oil for Boeing more then Smallville USA needs freedom/democracy.

Boeing loves you too!

I'm planning a solar power farm, should help.
A solar power “farm”?

How much power do you need that you speak of a farm? A farm only makes sense if you can store the power generated by day, which in case of a “farm” is not realistic for most consumers because of the cost and space for batteries. If you have good wind in your area you maybe should be looking at a turbine instead, as it generates power at night as well.

I have several neighbors complaining the (dutch) government will in 2020 end the arrangement that forced power companies to buy back any excess (at the same rates they sell it). They have 12-16 x 250w and what we call “zero on the meter”. Not because they are climate neutral but because they can sell the excess. We’re hoping the upside will be accelerating research in and lowering cost of better batteries.

Some say it’s ugly but knowing what it does I disagree. Same with large wind turbines (up to 250 yrds!)

Roofs like that are no longer the exception in my area. Huge shortage of trained personnel caused a waiting list for solar panel placement.

These people have no problem cooking water and food and heating their homes. Stoves and heating is now mostly powered by natural gas, but getting it out of the ground is causing too many earthquakes so we’re starting to replace it all, with induction cooking and underfloor heating. Water is stored after being preheated with solar collectors+boiler. Almost all new homes are equipped with the latter to get to the required low “Energy Performance Coefficient” https://www.eceee.org/library/conference_proceedings/eceee_Summer_Studies/2005c/Panel_2/2186marquart/ Starting 2021 all new homes need an EPC of 0.2 which is almost climate neutral.

I'm all for it, but it will be like a drop in the bucket. The only meaningful way to get our consumption down is for the population to fall in one way or another.

I don't see that happening.
I do. It will be nasty, brutish and short.

It's also inevitable if we don't get a much former handle on our population and impact.

Renewable energy is beginning to replace coal, a great start.

It helps if you have a government that isn’t in denial about climate change.

“Scotland is increasing its world leading climate change ambitions by committing to reduce carbon emissions by 100%. The Climate Change Bill sets a 90% target, a net-zero target to be added as soon as it can be achieved credibly and responsibly.”

Now to drag the United States of ExxonMobile, Halliburton and Amazon kicking and screaming to the same consensus.

Yeah, I see that happening any minute now.

This country can't even get on board with a serious end to end recycling program, FFS.
