so as of today my buds and dry and i finished clipping and decided i would throw everything on the scale and see what the weight was and sadly to say i only got about 11 grams off these 2 plants....through out there grow life i had topped and pruned them through veg...i read it was good ..help concentrate on the grow..right?...i know im only using t5's for both veg and flower... but with flower i used 2 blues and 2 red...is this where i messed up at ? should i go with 4 reds next time i flower... i dont have the money for a 150w hps nor the area...any tips? im also gunna repost this in the general growing

dont grow with those lights use these and your electricity wont go up and you will get big fat buds but make sure you get both red and blue spectrums.

42 watt average $10.00 each

65 watts, = $23.99 average price

85 Watt, average $29.00 each

105 watt average $38.99 each

Or Look for Clamp Reflectors and Bulbs together:

go buy these they are cheap dont raise your electric bill and produce no heat well the 105 watter does but thats the biggest

if you have the space to use a HPS it is WAY better to use and you can use it for all stages....

I used T5's my first grow..... I got about a 1/4 oz.... off my plant I grew for like EVER *honestly for like 6 months*

now I have a 400 watt HPS in the same space... the last crop I got 2 oz off 2 plants in 3 months... and I cut them early *cause I wanted some smoke!*

way better bang for your buck.......

I don't mind the suggestions to get more cfl's but to say that they are cheap, don't raise your electric bill, or produce no heat is entirely wrong on every level.. Uh watt for watt hps beats it on all those fronts unless you are talking a very small grow that even a 150w hps wouldn't work in and less than 150w total combined cfl power.

And again let me say those reflectors are not a good idea with cfl's. They don't help. They trap the heat and direct it towards your plants, increase the heat of the bulb and drive up electric use and drive down light output, and they can't reflect enough light to be of any value because of the short throw cfl's have and because with increased heat overall lumens goes down more than what the reflector reflects. (often a cfl puts out more lumens off the side than the end anyway.)

Cfl's can grow some fine dank tight nugs, I'm not dissing them or those that use or suggest them. I'm merely clearing up things that are wrong with this rhetoric that keeps getting spread around as if it were true.

mine give off no heat i can actually put them in between the plants can you do that with your light???? didnt think so and if you got only 1/4 oz off of one plant your doing something wrong ok wait more like 10 things wrong. i got two 105 watt cfls and got around 6 oz wet 4 oz dry. and thats all i used for veg and flowering. thats it...... go read up and maybe you will yield more.

and my electric bill has actually gone down since i changed my bulbs all to cfls. i think my bill was 90 and now it is 65 and i run the heat 24/7 so it does save energy obviously. and i know that cfls throw off more light on the side. those reflectors came free with the bulbs so why dont you just stfu!!

I once did a cflvshps experiment and chronicled the results with pix. I could look for the results and post a link in here if i had to but im really smoked out.

Same wattage same grow. Identical. Equal wattages do not and should not be compared when choosing lighting for grows.
U can VEG with cfls and have much success.
But the bread and butter will come when u flower with hps. HPS is not really as complicated or insane as alot of growers make it out to be. U can get a lamp for as lil as 22 bux at home depot right now. A lil ingenuity and u r much better off giving ur plants a much better lamp especially conscerning lumens per wattage output.

Bottom line I harvested 22 gram colas off one plant using the cheapy home depot fixture.
My heaviest cola harvested using the low wattage cfls during flower was 6 grams.

I would say educate urself on how different lighting pertains to different stages of growth then research ur findings some more.

Hps is harvest reccomended over cfls hands down..

That all hope it helps.

lol nah no anger management i have actually looked into adding a 125 w cfl to add to the lights on the next grow

yo

chill..there lights

to be honest, im running 2 cfls (26w), 5 blue LED spot light, a 13w Work light that i found HAHAHAHAHA, and 5 t5s (12 inch, undercabinet from lowes). Im mixing it up babe! its all love man in the end we all enjoy the product. Try using different stuf on ur next grow and have clones ready to cycle so it doesnt take as long

give tips, dont yell at people over their lights (unless there using something ridiculous)

6 oz wet 4 oz dry.
that math doesnt work...that means you call 50% moisture content dry!

dude, chill out. oregon knows his shit, and he specifically said he wasnt attacking you. i think what he meant was for equivelent lumens from a 150W hps you would need around 300-400 cfl watts(not the exact math, but in the ballpark) therefore to get similar results the HID lamp would be more economical in the long run. plus, a good HID setup starts at around 150 for a 400W. you could easily spend that on sockets, cords, mounting hardware, ect.

thats right chronickb247.... rep the CFL growers.... CFL's FOR LIFE...haha... i like CFL's... they're so hip... people just need to take the time to understand how to go about using them instead of just trashing them...

I agree theyre great, but some people take it a bit too far. dont you agree that by the time youve purchased and wired several hundred cfl watts(ive seen people with upwards of 500W) you could own and operate a HID lamp? i saw one guy had a 5 foot tall plant ringed with cfls it looked like a damn xmas tree! i think he said he was using 580W, on ONE PLANT!

I understand why people tell people they should be using HPS because it's the best, but for some people it's just not practical, I got 5 125w cfls, the sockets and the wires for them for just £110, it would of cost me £150 for a decent HPS set up that wouldn't of worked as well. In england HPS's are hard to find and expensive.

sorry, i know nothing about the UK or its prices. and like i said, they do have there uses. people with REALLY small grows like PC cabs or small stealth boxes need these lights.

but let me ask you, what is your avg yeild with 625W being used? i know guys getting a pound per harvest easy with a 600W hps. what my point is- if heat, space, and money isnt an issue why not go HID?

I haven't had a yield yet, I'm using 3 lights at a time, 2 blues and a red in veg and 3 reds in flower. And I'm growing 3 plants, I could of bought a 150w hps instead for £90 but it wouldn't of been as good as 375w's of cfl. Money is an issue and over here cfl's are cheaper, there are other reasons other then money why somebody might use cfls, I heard the ballasts can be quite noisy for HPS grows. I'm not somebody who will argue that a 150w cfl will put out less heat then a 150w HPS but you CAN put cfls closer to your plants without burning them.
