smart pots

I use them. I like them.

I use Coco fiber and the granules are quite small. Normal drainage holes allow quite a bit of the coco to drain from the bottom of the container.

SmartPots keeps the media contained within. The other benefits like air pruning and excellent drainage are very nice to have as well. I simply throw mine in the washing machine after a grow and they are as new. As for the price... I spent $5 on each of my 3 gallon planters.

A fantastic system for a beginner is to purchase Six 3 gallon smartpots and a 6-pod ebb/flow expansion module. You can then fill the smart pots with any media of your choosing and either flood drain (because the fabric will readily allow the passing of the water into and out of the plant) or you can top feed and run to waste. Whatever the case is, for about $100 after shipping you have a VERY nice system capable of running any number of methods.

You come across like a real douchbag in your posts.

I've used smart pots for a while now, they're great.
Booo

No need for hostility now. I think it was funny to see what he could rummage up in a few moments.
He didn't even bitch about the guy not searching.

I think there are three approaches here.

The "norm": Use the search function noob! Gah! Rageface!
Rasputin's: I used the search function for you, noob, and found a wealth of knowledge on it regardless of my experiences. Next time you'll know this information exists without starting a thread. Have a good day.
Mine: You're a noob. Whatever. This is what you need to know.

And then yours is just hate and say "I use them, they are great, and by extension so must I be."

Fucking Colorado...

There is an inner 3 gallon bucket with large holes drilled in the bottom of it. This bucket sits in another bucket, which has plumbing attached. This plumbing can then be used to manage run off, or to flood the containers. Placing a SmartPot within one of these buckets allows you to grow with nearly any media of your choosing without the risk of clogging the plumbing with the media.

EXTREMELY easy to DIY, you could save... $20 probably doing it yourself. Just make sure you get all your plumbing sealed up proper.
