Gwen II (GWS clone) showed her preflowers today. MUCH quicker than her momma. Went into the tent late Monday and here we are thursday with early hairs. Makes me wish I had more of this strain to continue on with. Earliest smoke report of her buds (that i chopped a few weeks early because of plant heat damage) are pretty bitchin. More sativa than indica, mellows you out, makes you creative without giving you a couchlock. Perfect for watching TV or kicking back with friends. It adjusts itself to fit whatever you're up to at the moment. Good social smoke. Look forward to take this strain to full ripeness this go around.

Still waiting for Liza II (LS clone) to show, she's starting to stretch just like her momma, my guess is she shows something by saturday or sunday. We'll see, I'll keep everyone posted.

Oh and of course Liza (LS momma) is still beautiful, aside from the already damaged leafs, no more bad news. All new growth is healthy and she is doing exactly what she should be doing, kinda slowed production though in the past day or so, haven't noticed big changes. Gonna have to step up her feeding schedule a bit as she reaches maturity.

That's all for now.

I took the time to upload each individual shot. the crystals on these buds was WORTH the wait.. Liza is starting to fatten nicely, giving her another 3 weeks before i start to consider flush/chop. She has a nice "wobble" when i take her out of the tent, from all the weight she is packing on

Now for the new ladies, first is Great White Shark with her budsites starting to form BEAUTIFULLY!!!

Now for Lemon Skunk not much exciting just like her momma she is about a week or so behind great white shark.

The branches/stems on both of the younger girls are bit more "limp" than I would like, i'm going to start them on a steady diet of DynaGro Protekt (silica solution) to encourage some rigidity, I want them to be able to take the weight!!

that's all for now, hope you enjoyed.
Everything looks great shack, i cant wait for the harvest, how is the smell? :weed:
Lemon Skunk MOST DEFINITELY lives up to its name!!
The aroma is potent very skunky at first like the name suggests, then you disturb the buds and an explosion of citrus! OH MY GOD!! its ridiculous. As a trained chef I look forward to using the trim for cannabutter, my hope is that the flavor/aroma comes through. My cannabutter making experience to this point consists of using bagweed (usually the cheapest ounce i can get) and the butter tastes TERRIBLE!!

thanks for stopping by!!

Shack. To improve your butter taste even using trim and dregs can be much better. Do you use a crockpot method? I wash my butter(really ghee) with water about 4 to 5 times after initial extraction. I have even made great tasting cannamels with my butter. If want full details of methods I would be happy to go into depth. :) My butter knocks a mutha fucka out. :)

i've never done the crockpot method. i've done something similar. double boiler, butter (whole not clarified) and ground up regs in a metal bowl over a pot of boiling water. heated it once, cooled, heated it a second time, cooled, then reheated and strained.

the second time i just cooked it over low heat in a pot, straight butter and cannabis. only heated once.

what is this about washing butter? (i'm familiar with ghee and clarifying butter culinary school grad) YES! GO INTO DETAIL!!! :bigjoint:

Here it is.

1. Clarify some butter (make Ghee) I am also a culinary enthusiast, however, there are plenty of online videos about how-to-make ghee.

2. (I use a crock pot. IME it wins over a d-boiler, but the d-boiler still works.) So put the plant material in the pot with about 1/2 a 5th of 100 proof drink. OK as long as it is clear (IE.. Vodka, ever-clear etc..) Let it sit for an hour.

3. Add butter an water and put pot on low. Let it sit there and cook for at least 12 hours. Not much difference after 8 hrs really though... so 8-12 hours should be good.

4. strain water/butter mix into large glass bowl. Be sure to use a pot ricer to squeeze all the good stuff out of the plant material and into the bowl.

5. Put in fridge and let butter and water separate.

6. pull butter off the top when hard and put back into crock pot with NEW, CLEAN water. Throw out the old muddy water from the initial extraction.

7. Let the butter/water mix heat back up on high for several hours. After the mix is all melted be sure to stir it vigorously for a minute here and there.

8. transfer the mix back to your clean glass bowl and put it back in the fridge to separate.

9. Repeat #s 6-8 as many times as it takes for your waste water to become completely clear. (when you do the separation the last time your water should look like it came from the faucet when you pour it out of the bowl.

10. Now you have very clean washed butter. This process takes about 4 to 5 times to do but gives you butter that tastes awesome and you can even do confections with and not have it burn.

NOTES:

I use a minimum of 3oz trim per lb of butter.. sometimes more. I wouldn't do less than an oz of bud per lb of butter if I was not using any other material.

Making Ghee before hand is superior. Ghee is pure fat and will absorb THC and other goodies much better. It also will last a lot longer at room temp and has a better taste IMO.

It is up to the chef to decide how potent their treats will be. BE CAREFUL...LOL.. Solid goodies can put you in the dirt.

Enjoy guys. :)

so THATS what you mean by washing butter. alright, this is what i'm going to do. what is going in the "washing" process? what exactly is being removed?
i'm guessing when you say it "tastes awesome" you mean it doesn't taste like you're eating pot leafs? not to say pot leafs don't taste good, just not in a sugar cookie.

Pretty much all water soluble unwanted material is removed during the washes. IE.. Chlorophyll, Probably left over salts and ferts and whatever else might not be desirable to eat. It still tastes like canna ghee when done but its really mild and pleasant. I have eaten 1tsp doses straight so its not that bad.
I use super dry trim and run it through a coffee grinder. More surface=more extraction. I have done this with Vape duff too. I would never use just vape duff but I do save it and throw it in with the trim. The washing makes all material taste how it should.... Like yummy pot goodness. :)

What I do to strengthen the thin branches is PINCH THEM... where it heals, becomes stronger.. much like super cropping, but there is no bending...

You just pinch the stem till you hear a pop... then it will get stronger...

Nice looking girls by the way...:weed:
