Rootmaker yet another Gizmo to improving ur roots

The most un biased
Way to test would be to
Plant both seeds in the same soil at the same time.
One in a root maker the other in your standard pot.

Then when ever the standard pot needs to be transplanted you would also transplant the rootmaker..

And to see if it works you would have to plant them both in a pot size that would never be filled in time 10 gal plus.

This would show which one grew bigger and yeilds more in a UN BIASED way

I, by choice by actual use of the product - like them. Already been using them for years. I would bet on Dr. Blowhard vs
Bro "scientist anyday
Well good for you then.
You enjoy what you think is better for your reasons. That's fine.

I'll continue with the traditional pots. I'll spend less for the pots and any nutrient used to do a run.
Not to mention get just as good if not better results then yours.

Been doing this for almost 45 years. That's longer then he's held his first degree.

Would love to do a side by side with Dr. Blowhard.
Bet I would hand him his ass in overall potential results.

Do cloth pots prune your plant roots? Yes.

But why do you need that? If you properly up-potted, and care for your plants....You have no need to use the pot that does it for you...
I don't care what Mr. PHD says! I'd love to be able to actually ask him direct questions.
But I can't....

BTW, I do have one of his books. It is about roots and increasing root mass. He's dealing with container plants. He covers proper up potting and "root cutting/scoring" if they go to long and coil into container bottoms. Look that up. Learn when to boost root structure to actually get the most out of your plant and the container, and the soil it sits in.
Do up pot, and avoid starting in the final bloom pot. It works but, up potting is better....

Bottom line is you made a choice, and it's good for YOU. Perfect!

Just as you like yours better. I prefer mine. Neither of us are "wrong". Just doing what we prefer. I only shared why.

Hey @Dr.Who would my unbiased test be a good way to prove it? As in does it sound like an UNBIASED way to test the theory

Would you consider trying it? The starter pots arent to spendy id almost say id buy some and send you one?.

I would love to see you or kingrow1
Do a side by side since you guys are seedling masters :)

Again all this is said to learn not make war
Peace as usual

I got some of those around somewhere - I think (still)...

I'll poke around a bit. Spring cleaning is soon, as is starting my outdoor personals.....No root pruning for the outdoor lady's.....

To be perfectly honest with you. I have a growing Reaper pepper that is about to go into a cloth 10 gallon. She will sit outside in the summer and winter in the house. My wife just loves the structure and look of the super hots at 4+ ft tall.... It'll live over 30 years too. The pot will prune her to stay at about 4' - almost 5'.....

Now that is a good use for cloth pots in my book. House plants/tropical's, so they help regulate plant size for indoor enjoyment.

I like them for non-cannabis, house plant growing. Of certain types of plants.....

PS

The plant will give you a quart of mash, twice a year. I make several things from that and also pepper jelly from the super hots too. Mmm, cream cheese on a town house with a nice smear of pepper jelly!

Wing sauce's
Chili
anything you like hot! We LOVE hot..

Got some seeds from a pheno that goes over 1.7million Scoville's.. Want some? anybody?

A plant ill only grow enough roots as to meet its needs
I have seen plants with a disparity in size VS root size. Especially plants kept moist rather than doing dry-wet cycles tend to have smaller roots for the same size plant.
This is in no way applicable to DWC as those are water roots.

I have formed another theory why plants tend to put their roots around the edge of pots with little airflow through the sides. It is not only easy access to water when the rootball goes dry and shrinks away from the pot, but also the first place to get fresh oxygen as it dries out again.

In summer I take a 5l water bottle or 3, punch the sides full of holes, cut a watering opening in the neck and plant jalapeno seeds in them. It is nice as the bottles have a little carry handle so you can move them with the sun throughout the season. I paint the outside of the bottles white on the sunny side.

@ANC Plants fill the outside of the pot when the tap root hits the bottm and circles till it can find its way down
There are videos on this.

Then after the tap hits bottom the lateral roots grow out til they hit the pot then they too go down and around

Look up how do roots grow around objects

Should find the video cool projects with lapse time vids of roots growing

This seems like the most unbiased way to test but im Not a dirt grower
Do you think this would be a good UNBIASED way to test (not yelling)

And cant think of how i could do a side by side in hydro.

Thanks dr. Who for the good discussion :)

Yeah dirt is the real way.

Friends with a guy who does ebb trays. He uses inert media in cloth pots as his plant containers. He doesn't like how some tray plant "containers" can spread roots out the bottom and has had an issue with them clogging his drain....... Yes, even with Rockwool.... Man does a damn fine job of SOG growing that way.....

He has had one of the cloth pot makers, build him shorter pots and tried hydroton in them. They got on board as a possible new product variation. He didn't like the final outcome as much as his media. He worked on that and got close to where he wanted but, ultimately, went back to his media mix.

Oddly enough, he still use's those "custom" pots and hydroton. For a veggie food run during cold months..... He used to work on a local mushroom farm. Till they shut down.... Thought about buying into that and running higher end fungus..... Till I researched it deeper....
