hi guys,

ive used the DWC hydro system for a harvest and found it very effective.

ive also researched the othe various forms of hydro..

the question im getting at is does anyone have any ideas for a new, revloutionary setup? im an experimenter and i would love to find something new!! I have a few ideas myself, sort of an incorporation of the ebb and flow as well as the DWC system and i would be very glad to exchang ideas with any1 interested.

thanks a billion!

yea im thinking of bringing water culture and resivior together

yeah definately.

here's what i had in mind..

okayy, take youre resivoir, in my case a rubbermaid tub and place you're bubblers in the bottom. add drain holes about halfway up your net pots to allow for proper drainage, like in a ebband flow system. then add the top drip fittings. (submersible pump, tubing, drippers, etc) then allow for the dripping water to fill the resivoir to the drainage holes. while this is happening, the bubblers will be set on a timer which matched that of the pump supplying the drip. The excess water will fill the res, be provided with EXTRA oxygen via the bubblers, then drain periodically.

I think of it as a mix between ebb, top drip, and DWC.

Give it a try and see how it works for you! Keep everyone updated with your results. gotta try it to see if/how it works. Good luck, ~Outlaw~

Separating the rez from the plants will allow you to use a bigger rez. More water means you can keep the ppm levels more consistent.

Yes This is what I'm doing next.
But a little differnt.

I will have one large rez on the botom and then a Rez on top.
A pump will pump water from bottom rez into the top Rez on the left hand side, there will be an over flow on the far right, that will flow strait back into the bottom Rez.

This will acheave cerculation. Meaning the bottom Rez will have the Same PH and PPMs as the top rez. but as the plants drink the water, the level in the bottom Rez will slowly go down while the level in the top rez will remain the same.

In the top Rez I will place the plants and Bubblers in the bottom I will have a couple of Submersable pumps to keep it cerculating. The only time I will need to accses the top Rez will be to check the roots.

Adding Nutes, Water, checking PH and PPMs can all be done from the bottom Rez.

The addvatage of this system is that It can be left for days without need to top up, adjust PH or PPMs.

I haven't built it yet so I can't tell you how well it works.
I'm having trouble finding the Rezes. I need two water containers that are 25x200x100Cm. Any ideas?

The sytem will be quite tall, but the idea is to grow clones, that will finsih at around 60Cm tall.

see ya that my whole concept not to mess with the plants in the water jus to look at the rootz my main rez will tell me my ph ppm etc. so i can easly keep up with my water and change no problem im not sure if ima go through with this system or just go for soil still a blank in my mind

Yes, My piont is.

If you don't keep the water where the plants are curculating back to the main rez, You won't be able to tell what the PH and PPMs are in the rez with the plants.

Do you see my piont?
As the plants drink the water it wil change the PPMs and the PH, while the water in the main Rez will same. This could lead to big problems.

Thats why in my system the water is constantly cerculating around and around.
Also you need to keep the water level consistantly 1" bellow the net pots, there are other ways of doing it, but an over flow tube is probably the easyest.

Come to think of it.
If hight is a problem you could do it a little differnt, as long as the overflow is slitly higher than the rez the system will work.

I think it will be a good idea. and make the anoying things aboud DWC go away. There was piont towards the end of my grow where I had to top up the Rez twice a day. It was really anoying.

And doing it like that last pic, would make it possible with standard rubber mades storage containers. Nice one mate. Thanks.

one thing that crossed my mind was light i kno the plant rez will be covered but wat about the main rez light would get in it and alge would build up

Woo Lets go!

One thing I was thinking about.

Say I read the PH in the main rez and it messures 6.0 so you want to drop it to 5.6. but this is only half the pictur, bacuse the PH in the second Rez will also have a PH of 6.0 and this water will not mix int the water in the main rez for an hour or so.

This means that a little bit of experamenting will have to be done in order to figur out how far you need to adjust.
Say I have a PH of 6 and I want 5.6 I would have to lower the PH to 5.3 to acheave a PH of 5.6 throught the whole system.

I plan on using A 350lPH pump, as the system is only using around 200Ls of water, that pump should compleately mix the soulution every hour.
So it should be to difficult to work out whats going on in there.

it would prolly b best for you to just get one res and one flood table, cut a hole in (drain)the flood table and set it over your res slightly, put your pump on a timer and drop a air stone in the res. done

Here are some of my attempts.

They all run on a cycle timer set to one minute on and five minutes off.

1) The first is my cloner. I've never lost a cutting yet!

2) The second is my Veg system. The bottom container is the reservoir. The plants roots systems grow separate so it's easy to move them to flower when the time comes.

3) The third is one my flower systems. My favorite system I've built so far is the one using PVC fence posts. EZ-Clone sprayers on 1/2" PVC pipe running on the inside. 396 GPH pump with 12 sprayers. 14 plant sites. 3/4" PVC pipe frame. You will notice the garden hose adapter to make draining the res easy. Attach a hose and turn the pump on. It took me about 2 hours to build the first one. cost is under $80. It works un-fukin-real!

I am able to pump 2900 PPM without burning! All organic nutrients.

My plants grow like they are on steroids! You can see more examples in my gallery.
