There are[FONT=arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif] of different plastic compositions that at various temperature's give off [/FONT]various[FONT=arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif] toxic plasticizer fumes.

What does tipple filter mean?
I used paper filters once and too much...what do you call it?......dissolved trichomes get stuck in the paper.I use 2 of those metal mesh things you put over a boiling/frying pan....splash guard:).....just pour my qwiso thru them both,some very fine pieces get through but im cool with it.I wash pretty quickly and use frozen trim/buds.I'll post pics next batch.GL.bongsmilie
 
Very over paranoid, its designed to have boiling fluid in it . No fumes no plasticizer again it doesn't leech..but that's part of the reason I use iso its the safest method imo...if your referring to the hair like stalks getting trapped or something, were not after them. We want the heads which dissolve in the solvent. As its a liquid none gets trapped if you pour more solvent through the filter there is no loss in yield or contaminents from any of this as long as using iso

I know what your saying...it's just I don't want to keep pouring alcohol over it I like to get it over wth quick and easy. I use about a cups worth of alcohol,I use a tall skinny ball jar fill half way with trim/bud and cover with alcohol,give it a couple shakes and immediately pour it through the double filter into a 9x13 pyrex let evap(room temp)for few days...scrape and go.....am I missing something is there another way?

He's commenting on what I was saying. He's explaining how the metal filter should have no issues with heated or cool ISO.

There are a few deviations of "the method" but yes that is the most common.

Filter the ISO three times.

One bucket filter into another, filtered into another , filtered into another then finished with heat or air.

Each time it is filtered it removes some "stuff" this "stuff" includes THC but is not solely comprised of it. It will contains many other contaminants and "goods".

As Qwiz said, that is not what you are looking for in ISO oil anyway so its fine to filter it and make it as pure as possible.
Also as you said, you don't mind it and that's fine. However I would call your's more of a ISO "hash" and not oil since it includes "plant matter".

If your hash oil has a flavor you attribute to the iso you may need to evap longer. As iso doesn't need to be "purged" like butane. it evaps completely clean with no residue even the cleanest bho leaves a residue and has to be purged with a vaccum or etoh wash etc. Iso is the safest and most effective method in my opinion. And my iso tastes just like the bud it came from, I use no heat so most of the terpenes remain. It also produces an oil with a higher cbd ratio which I prefer....but seeing as you really provided no reasoning behind your statement I'm going to assume your just trolling

I wouldn't quite go as far as saying Iso hash.....lol.......maybe a few specs,but your right.I think I will double or triple my metal filters to make it purer

You can also get something like a 110 micron silk screen and use that as your base filter. Then you can use cheesecloth or legging and filter over that then let that be the final filter. Less gets stuck vs a coffee filter.

Iso makes a fine extract, but it is actually harder to purge than butane, because of its higher Van der Vaal forces from its higher molecular weight.
 
Your right I should have been more specific. It does take longer from its higher boiling point. But I guess I technically never said it was easier just you didn't have to take the same precautions as it doesn't leave a residue it doesn't get trapped behind. Where bho you have to vacuum or something else to remove those last traces.......not that they are really that harmful I'm sure you get more from your lighter or something......

I think more people should learn about intramolecular forces.wouldn't it really be hydrogen bonding that keeps it down? The strongest imf and butane only has to overcome van der waals. Besides the molecular weight of butane is 58.12g/mol iso is 60.1 g/mol ... so you see how similar they are, then you take water which is bout 18g/mol its slower to evap but a lot lighter than both.. isopropanol due to its -oh group like water gets that powerful hydrogen bond
 
I'm making me some qwiso tonight. Found a really cool filter thing that attaches to the top of a standard metal coffee filter. Supposed to remove 99% of stuff including chlorine, I think that's all the box said about it. .... cool. I'll see how it works I also found a carbon filter attachment but idk I figure its not selective and will try to remove thc as well

Qwiso ran properly is the finest tasting cannabis product ive ever tatsed...most potent too... but it must be made properly....when I ran buds ive never tasted anything so wonderful.
