Question about cloning and transplanting.

How long should you wait before taking a clone from a plant?

And my 2 plants are 2 weeks into growth and they're doing well, growing fast. I have them in 4 inch pots right now and I will soon be transplanting them into 6 G pots, my question is once you've used a soil to grow in, can you transplant the plants into a different, better neutral soil? I started the 2 plants in a miracle grow soil and I hate it, it's got time released nutes and it pretty much ties my hands. I would like to get them into a better soil mixed with perlite, etc.

u want to make sure the branch that ur cloning has at least 2-3 nodes
yes u can transplant in a diff soil
and i advise to transplant early to reduce chances of stress and prevent root bound

Will do but the soil I started in still has to go into the middle of the new stuff right?

yeah
or u can knock it off...but that increases stress...it will work fine as long as u dont damage the roots
just give it a lil squeeze and the soil should fall right off

How tight should the new soil be around the roots? I get the feeling it'll be really easy to damage the roots doing this too.
