Quantum Boards Grow

There is a couple of us who got these boards early who finished a grow with pictures. Although we are not as well known or as big as some others on here.
>>would be really nice to hear about them especially if they already had grown a crop or so with cobs

we do not expect pictures at this point lol

this is fun site

and TTYS

how about your "so far" impressions compared to cobs..yeh we won;t getpictures but you can string words together ok

i just hung my 380 w 3 x 4ft estonian rigid strip panel yesterday
i hope toget something under it to compare to cobs..which i finally got into flowering mode..so far they are doing good
and iknow i could put them alot closer

@torontoke yo sorry dude. i didnt mean to/should not have come across like that!. i should of worded things much better, please excuse me from coming across a right dick! ttystikk is correct
That's the spirit! We're all here trying to learn something, each in our own way.

Speaking of which, I don't know if you've had the chance to look at @torontoke's thread on extended dark cycles but it's fascinating stuff, very educational.

It's ok
No worries
My skin has grown thick since joining riu. I take all shit in stride.

I don't know bout all of that sir
So far I'm thrilled by what I'm seeing from the quantums on reduced hours ;)

So I was running 670W through 8 quantum boards, props as always to @Stephenj37826 for the build. These boards have 'wall washer' lenses on them to direct emitted light evenly onto a vertical surface next to where the boards are installed.

Without an extra foot of headroom above the top edge of my trellis I couldn't place the boards quite where they needed to be. Hence the 8-12" dark strip across the top is not a fault of the boards but low ceiling. The center of the panel got blasted with what could easily have been too much intensity for finicky plants like the one I was running. The bottom of the trellis panel was getting plenty of light for solid growth and development.

By comparison, the rest of the 6 plant rack was running all CXB3590 at 56W, 16 chips to a panel, total of 900W per trellis. The quantum board lit plant was getting entirely enough light to keep up while running 30% less Watts. And the board's only request was a lil direct airflow to remain cool enough to hold onto.

It was certainly educational for me, brother.

I figured you'd like them.

Although I posted thoughts and pics of a small test grow "page 94 or 95 in the big thread" I tried not to post too much about how impressed I am with the QB. I don't want to come off as a fan boy or a shill.

The Quantum boards are a COB just a different style. As such anyone who has a DIY COB setup knows COB's put a hurt on anything before it in efficiency, photons etc. look up some of Growmau5 vids on YouTube among others.

Quantum boards do all of that but with a few new twists such as no active cooling, no thermal paste, no soldering, no optics in reflective tents, multiple points of light vs one = less shading and better light penitration and so on. To me the Quantum boards are more of a purpose built COB grow lighting vs the warehouse COB lighting that we adopted to growing.

Yep I think so. With new boards being S6 bin you'll be over 2.5 umol/j. A 600 HPS setup would be close to 1.4 umol/j in a very clean air cooled hood. So not quite a 600 HPS but close enough considering the better spectrum. That setup you are talking about would surpass a 1000 SE and some 1000 DEs which is WAYYYYYY to much for a 3X3 lol
From what I have researched from some experts running COBs we should have 18 to 20ish par watts per sqft. Where can I see/find some efficiency numbers for these boards?. In a 4x4 I would think you need more than 290 par watts and a 3x3 over 160 par watts.
