LER 321,6lm/j and estimated lumen numbers means ~60%@350mA and ~55%@700mA
Seems like the board is 110v so at 700mA it would run at 77 watts. 77 Watts at 55%eff. Would be 42 par watts per board. It would take 4 boards in a 3x3 and 7 boards in a 4x4 to hit over 18 par watts per sqft. 8 boards would be 21par watts per sqft.

Yepp but max. current is 200mA for 561c so you can drive the boards with up to 1,6A(8 strings).
1050mA will be 52% eff., 1,4A still 49,5%.
I would go with 6 in a 4' x 4' @1050, dimmable...

I tend to agree. 6 boards at 52% eff. @1050mA for a 4x4 would hit the spot theoretically. 21 par watts should kill it if they are at least as good as a COB.

What is the dried weight? Grats on the harvest by the way. Also do you think you could have used more light i notice theres quite a bit of extra area not used?

The original plant turned out to be male so I had to throw a different one in and I didn't feel like waiting for the extra veg time so it went into flower smaller than normal. Plus this particular cut doesn't stretch a lot during flower but carries serious weight for a small plant, 9.5. The plant had plenty of light for the space, this QB light has more output than my 3590's that were built for the same size space.

From what I have researched from some experts running COBs we should have 18 to 20ish par watts per sqft. Where can I see/find some efficiency numbers for these boards?. In a 4x4 I would think you need more than 290 par watts and a 3x3 over 160 par watts.

4 boards on 2 HLG 240 1050s pulls up to 625 watts. That equals 1400+ PPF...... Giving around 1000 PPFD which is the most I recommend.

I was Thinking the same thing I thought you needed 2 hlg320 2800 to pull that much wattage from 4 boards

About 160watts from 1400mA would get you to 640watts at 49% efficiency. That gets you about 19 par watts per sqft.

My concern would be getting a good spread with only 4 boards.

Lol you're kidding, right? When is the last time anyone complained about the footprint of a DE? As a point source you have to hang them several feet away to get coverage. With QB, just spread the boards apart a little and keep them within a foot of the canopy. The distributed light these emit is the real secret of their performance; they're cool enough to run close and that's where the large surface area of the QB does its best work.

This should give you ~1150μmols ppf or real 720-750 ppfd over 1,44m²/4'*4'. Maybe it's possible to drive the driver so hard but I would not push it over it's limits with regard to its durability. Maybe it's just a typo and he meaned HLG-320H-C1400 like mentioned above.

And if you ask me, 700-750μmols is just the right amount for every area in terms of efficiency. If you give more, you will only have minor improvements and it could require additional CO2 above 1000μmols.
In addition, you can get easily bleaching with intensities above 1000μmols, although I am sure that the QB's have much less problems with it than COB's, because of the better spread.
So 4 QB's @525mA each sounds perfect in a 4'*4' tent and will outperform each available 600w hps

Naw I wasn't kidding but I do understand what you're saying. Just curious about the pattern and distance apart.

I would prefer 800+ ppf over as much of the footprint as possible. I think I'll do the 640w build and try it out. It seems about what I am looking for.

I would call it "DE replacement", LOL! ...and should push you near to 1000μmols..
The price isn't bad either. About $300 for the boards, $60 heat sinks, $200 drivers. Then a few dollars for some misc parts.

About the cost of 2 zips. Good investment if you can get that 2 "units" per 4x4........1.4g/w

You are not a dumb ass lol. The figures for efficiency are at system level so that includes driver losses. Also the drivers all seem to give a little more than what they are rated. The A type drivers will give quite a bit more than they are rated actually. I have an HLG 550 here right now that pulls 625 watts @120 VAC. The HLG240 1050B pulls between 262 and 275 watts @120 VAC.

I would use the HLG320H- 1400. When a driver is rated at 320 watts that's what's it pushes to the boards and usually more. The HLG-320H-1400B pulls 360 watts with the dimmer installed at the wall @120 VAC.

So think your numbers guys. All efficiency numbers on website are at system level not board level. The best part....... They are all tested using an HLG-80H which is only 91% efficient....... We are switching all HLG 550s to the new HLG 480s 95%+ efficient!!!!!! Same light output less watts :)
