Printing Money

Ya care to show us where counterfeit currency possession is legal? Why are their Federal charges named "conspiracy to print, pass or possess counterfeit currency"?

Counterfeit Deterrence Act of 1992 (18 U.S.C.A. § 471 note) to increase penalties. Prior to the enactment of new law, it was not a criminal act to manufacture counterfeit U.S. currency. The law also instructed the Department of the Treasury to redesign paper money in order to make it more difficult to reproduce. In 1996, the first new currency was released.

Oswego, NY -- Oswego police have charged a Syracuse woman with criminal possession of a forged instrument, first degree, a felony.
Tanya A. Fenske, 25, of 1265 W. Genesee St., was arrested Jan. 13 in Syracuse. Oswego police say she possessed counterfeit United States money at 21 E. Bridge St., Oswego on Nov. 30.
She was arraigned in Oswego City Court and sent to the Oswego County Correctional Facility. http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2010/01/syracuse_woman_charged_with_po.html

As far as unlawful intent, you would be VERY hard pressed to prove you had no intent when you participate in such public online forums, advocating this as a "hobby" and giving instruction and advice on counterfeiting (i.e., "Use 20# paper")
Alright, I see your point. It's illegal to even posses counterfeit money. I was wrong about that folks. Doesn't really take away from the thread though. :D

Well, many of us don't believe that marijuana should be criminlized, because it is a natural weed and we believe it has medicinal value to mankind.

You on the other hand, are advocating the fraudulent counterfeiting of US currency, and discussing methods to avoid detection of said bills. While I agree that knowledge isn't illegal, your discussion of this subject matter and suggestion that part time employees won't spot your bills leads me to believe that you are more than discussing this. You stated it was a hobby.

Please do not compare your fraudulent activities or discussion thereof with growing or consuming marijuana, which is actually legal in 16 states.

Which states are counterfeiting currency legal in?
Growing and consuming MJ is still ILLEGAL in all 50 states, ask the Feds.

Yep.

This thread is funny. Talking as if our coveted currency is any realer than this dudes that he just made on his Lexmark. Shit he could weight his against weed and it'd be more proper.

i've recieved fake money before and honestly having read a thread like this would have at least made me more aware. it was an old style 20 and when i turned it over it was all faded, then i noticed the paper was way off. weird thing is i could have sworn i got it from an atm machine but i'm aware of the odds of that being pretty slim. point is i check all my money now. another way to spot a fake is that real united states currency has tiny ass wispy blue and red fibers randomly woven into the paper. you have to look real close but they're there, and they can't be picked off unless you wanna get all surgical. lexmark ink you say...lol.

ROFL.... what does that have to do with counterfeit currency? Counterfeiting is a crime that affects everyone. We all pay at the register for goods that someone else has stolen. It's hidden in the price tag. My smoking or growing marijuana is hurting who?

I heard some people will steal other peoples mail, get thier personal checks that they are sending the power company or what not. then they take the checks and soak them in a liquid that you can buy at the hardware store after you copy the signature on the check, then let it dry rewrite the check to themselves, or a fake identity they have, forge the sig and then go cash it at the bank.

walla

theres so many ways to make money if you wanna break the law.

I saw another trick where you make this plastic thin thing and put it in the ATM machine, it causes the next user of the atm to get thier card stuck. u try to help them out to get thier code, or spy on thier code. then when they give up trying to get thier card u go back and pull out the plastic peice that is holding the card seemingly stuck and widthdraw the money, or just take the card and buy some shit.

or u can can pop a cap in somones ass and take thier wallet whatever, i prefer a regular 9 to 5 :D

Yea, there are plenty of ways criminals make their money. I'm actually at a crossroads in my life. I've worked in an officeone time in my life. It was a suit and tie, 40 hour a week job. I quit it after 5 months. I hated my life. I would just wake up and go to work all the time, and never be able to talk to anyone outside my cubicle. I wasn't ever given any work either. I mean, this sounds like the perfect job, but not really. I never smoked before worked, in case I needed to do something. I look back on that as the worst time in my life.

But, my crossroads...what careers don't resemble a job in any way?

I've heard something like you bleach off dollar bills, then somehow reprint them? But not sure how because of the complex designs and such that is used...
yeah ive actually seen a few of these.they take 5s because of the bar in the bill is close to being a 100.00 and when a clerk or who ever that is busy checks it the bar looks like its in the right location, and sience it was already money the money pen they check it with comes out clean every time and it still has its feel.

yet another reason not to mess with checks...i got my card stuck in the atm once. sounds stupid to make someone get it stuck on purpose. all they have to do is call and cancel it. i had mine cancelled before i drove away.

You notice this guy never once posted a pic. Its BS. ALL modern printers by ALL modern makers recognize a certain background pattern in real currency and do not allow accurate scanning nor printing. Dont believe me? Try it. Try and scan a 20. Now I have heard of people flashing the firmware to get around this with a custom firmware, but this guy never even brought that up. This policy has been in place since the late 80s with Xerox and the US Secret Service. Most major currencies are involved.

You ever notice that he is PRINTING the money? He isn't putting it through a copying machine. The US Mint PRINTS our currency, and it PRINTS just fine, regardless of the background, because PRINTING is different from making PHOTOCOPIES!
