Poor mans popcorn tek

lol all bought from wally world
everything you need to start up some jars
very simple tek.

items needed:
pressure cooker
1/2 - 1 pint jars
3m waterproof medical tape
popcorn (one bag from walmart fills 6 pint jars )
rubbing alcohol
CLEAN AREA TO WORK

setting up the lids: all i do is stab a philips head screw driver through the lids in 2 spots, then wipe the lid down with alcohol and throw the 3m tape on it.

let popcorn sit in water 24 hrs..
throw more water in the pan if you gotta then bring the popcorn to a low boil, stir that shit about every 5 minutes for about 45 minutes.
throw it in a strainer now and rinse it, i do it to get off extra starches and stuff, then you let it dry out in the strainer for a half hour
i put it on a paper towl for like 10-15 minutes after straining just to get a little more out

from there we go to jars...
i put a little layer of vermiculite in the bottom of the jars to soak up a little extra water.

now fill up the jars with some popcorn

now wrap them in some foil

lot of people only layer the top.. i just wrap the whole thing, personal preference again.
pressure cook at 15 psi for 90 minutes.

right now my jars are in the cooker or id have more pics for knocking them up.

LET THE COOKER COOL DOWN BEFORE REMOVING LID
then take out your jars and let them cool down, i let them sit over night.
remove all that tinfoil and wipe down the lid again with some alcohol and flame your needle til its red hot (literally lol) and then wipe it down again and inject 1/2 cc into each hole (right through piece of tape on it now).. 1cc per jar total.
as soon as that needle comes out have a piece of tape ready to put over the hole...
put the jar somewhere safe, i keep mine at around 80 degrees F...
check them in like a week for colonization


be back with updates on where to go from there when i got pics.

Since I have used 3m waterproof medical tape daily for a number of years and have canned many veggies I do not understand how you can get it to remain stuck to a canning lid boiling in a pressure cooker.

its all good man, gotta make sure the medical tape has micropores.... put it on the lids and wrap the top with a double layer of tinfoil to keep out water. i just wrap the whole jar twice lol, keeps the lid nice and dry

Interested to see your results. I'm wanting to set up again just Havnt yet. I'll probably do casings this time as for some reason just cakes in a terrarium didn't harvest much for me.

What about FAE (free air exchange)? Won't putting tape over the holes after you inoculate fuck that up?

I always thought that there was a layer of verm (or something) on top of the mycelium layer (whatever that is called?), and the verm would act as a filter and still allow free air exchange? Is that just not needed with the popcorn tek of, is it getting FAE some other way I didn't catch?

the tape is breathable, and i only run a little verm on the bottom of the jars.. with popcorn vermiculite on top kind of sucks, its not all nice and tight packed like brown rice flower and some other grains.. so it kinda just makes a mess in the jar. the tape works pretty well me actually. im willing to do a couple jars canndo's way, he always seems to have good advice. what do i do instead of the 3m tape, other then tyvek and shit.. 3m tape works the same as tyvek imo

nice... b+ for the round im going to journal here, and thats awesome i love my strat, i really like the semi hollow tele's though.. not gonna lie im also a gibson fan, my baby is my gibson.. 71' es 335 .. red with black pick guard. my strat all i need for it my vintage ibanez tube screamer pedal and im good.. that is by far my favorite pedal.

lol, funny story i had last night. so last set of cakes i fruited i just packed some extra straw i had left over (pasteurized) back into the containers they came out of and stuck them under a bed. well i forgot about them and happen to look under that bed last night. apparently the bed was not light proof enough along the bottom they had already fruited what appeared to be about 3 or 4 days ago and were past the point of use. But in the shoe box sized containers i colonize in they had contorted and weaved together to make the oddest looking lump of stuff i have seen in a long time.

man i stayed up all last night and im still going, letting the last jars cool down then noccing them up.. 6 quart pc sucks lol

let it roll let it roll. Dont forget when all your jars are white to do another round of PC jars and use 1 jar to nock up another 10 jars of pc popcorn, that way you never buy another syringe if that is the species that you want to keep growing.

thats the plant.. im reading g2g transfers eventually just die... after many transfers, what if i pull a print towards its last round can i stretch it even longer
