Ah ok, cool.

I'm having trouble getting a stable tank temp so I use a heat gun but that brings the surface to the 130's and takes ALOT of vacs.

The temp gun was fucking me up. It doesn't go thru the plexi and get the oil temp accurately. I am using a probe and just have the electronic part protected by parchment, raised up a bit. The girddle and reptile sand is def where it's at with getting stable temp, overnight the most it varies is 2 degrees.

Yeah it won't go through, you pop the lid, melt then vac. lol

The sand is a new idea, I will have to look into that.

I piled my sand nice and high to be able to achieve my low temp. Works wonders wish I had done it ages ago.

Can also pile up parchment paper on the griddle to mellow out the temp. Does not burn

Hey any of you guys ever get almost snowflake like poofs of bubble skin floating around the vac when bubbles pop? Shit's freaking me out like it's got soap in it, is it just tightening up faster than im use to? or cuzz im fucking with Cadillac low rider Lowlow Temps? It's so pretty and makes staring into the vac feel like a Christmas night.

In other news, do you find that when people bring you strains externally it's like everyone grows the same strain at the same time? Now i got 2 different grower's OG with a 3rd one coming.

Alright I know I have been gone for awhile. Moving and working and running new strains like a fool. Got a second chamber and now have my griddle/vac setup in the garage, makes it soooo much nicer!! Besides the 2 new strains pictured I also have OG Kush to start running

Thanks guys!! I def finally feel like I have the shatter down, woot!! There are def strains that don't shatter, and in that case I will take the extra time to wax it at 105. I don't take anything over that anymore.

Yup I agree with you there man. I believe that too; if it's gonna wax it will eventually do it at 105-110. Going over that is where it gets risky and things go sidewayzzz

3 makes it the truth, It's the same for me everything goes to hell between 110+, it's not the temps it's the unregulated vac pressure. When FD said 115f at 29.5 he wasn't kidding, how many of us even took the step of calibrating the gauge. The run's where i would get semi success had mostly to do with my opening the door so often it never got past 105. Did a run of OG and set it to 105 because I was to tired too watch it all night, man it the morning I swear I had risen from ashes I felt so good to see that shatter.

Let's put it this way, I went back to the dispensary last night and demanded a half pound of that bubba that had me on the 710 suicide hotline.

Kase keep kicking ass bruv, when i checked for my OG at the dispensary to see if maybe I wanted to jump in the river on my way home all I found was bubba. Im feeling like a million bux man, Ima shatter this bubba and buy back every drip of sap on that shelf and flip it into H.A.O. holy shit edition. We need some kind of whip cracking sound effect to add to these post.

I will semi agree Saybian... even over 105 with regulation of the gauge will produce a less flavorful product imo and experience. I have run about 6 oz of chocolope shatter and i took one of the batches a touch higher and I definitely noticed the difference. I'm not sure if many other people would tell from just trying that one but when compared to another batch most of you prob could

oh yieh, i tried waxing my good good shatter into wax awhile back but the pressure was too strong. It tasted like lessor, but downtown i gave it away and glass shop workers are talking one of the best oils of their life. So I um will don't trust their taste anymore or maybe they've just never touched winterized. All's I was saying is vac pressure precision isn't up there with temperature when it comes to what people panick over. I kept telling myself in the early days don't worry i saw a guy I trust do it at these temps. I don't think we disagree were all about them low temps and will take it as slow as we gotta to keep the A game flavor. Fuck I wanna gram out this oil im winterizing by waking up at 6 before work but I know Im gunna flip it and let it go another 8 till i get home. I think i'll try wax again but at 110 and patience, not revving up the town at 120 taking risk and pulling skirts.

I never asked this cuzz back in the day VP would explode if you said continous, but do you pull, seal and sit. Or do you suck in the cold like there's no tomorrow till done when finishing? I remember saying it back when I was on aspirator and he still tried to put a banana in my tailpipe.

Pull and sit... when I wake up I pull in the cold for a minute and then check.

full vac is not good. and not nearly necessary ... at lowww temps. maybe like under 80F you can go full vac and be safe..

what kind of sized batches are you guys purging? small batches/thin film, you can go pretty quick.

for shatter. i believe in thin film.. QUICK thin film, at a regulated pressure/heat..

for wax. i like to make honey combs :] i dooo not know of an automatic way. but! i basically like to get to foggy stage, past shatter. THEN, i like to fold it into ball, let it cool down, put in chamber, get to my desired vac, under 29 HG with no heat, then place my chamber into heat, (100ish F) let my muffin under vacuum melt down as slow as it needs to.. ( i feel the lower you can finish on the vac pressure, the prettier outcome you get.. ) and ya.. these muffin melt downs under vacuum tend to purge reallyyy well for me..

i feel like the muffin collapsing onto it self, while under vac/warmth does a greatttt deal of work..

my chambers need to be tuned..
but with a good chamber, i can usually lock my vac off at 29.5hg. let it sit over night in heat, and wake up to honeycombs with vac pressure around 28+.

now, with my non sealing chambers, i like to run my vac all night, and bleed at 29HG .. wake up, combs..

there are a million ways to do it! ive been playing with no vacuum honeycomb making as well.. and ya.. well.. my no vacuum honeycombs tend to be a bit more contaminated, but quite good in consistency, color, taste..

all in all, me thinks the vacuum way is the cleanest way :]

Alright, well since I have upgraded my tek, run about 400 batches and getting great semi-consistent results I want to do a tutorial thread on my way. So I started taking a few pics of a chocolope batch I just did. I will post up some more pics of my setup, method and more of the chocolope run. Here are a few pics to get the ball rolling, please any questions ASK away!! I am VERY excited about competing in a couple months. A few of the new strains I have been running along with all the others I have mentioned; cherry kush, new xj-13, new sour diesel, goo, infinite euphoria (anyone know anything about this?) and a small batch (lol to me anyways, about 100 grams) of original northern lights That will be personal fo sho lol

So my awesome new back porch has served it's purpose well. I use that little white table to lay the tubes on when they are done dripping and so I can put the next tube into the stand. I am using an induction burner set to 140, which gets the water in the cast iron pan to about 120-125. Soooo much faster then having to bring the pan inside and bring it back up to temp several times during the process. This way I can blast thru all 3 tubes in about 30 minutes. The packing and unpacking takes longer
