I say dress like a freak all you want, but don't expect it to come without consequences. I wouldn't hire someone who didn't project the image to the customer that I want. I wouldn't have the job I have now if I looked like side show act. By 30 you should be grown up and have a job - I don't see too many successful professionals with pink hair and facial piercings - more barista and bud tender minimum wage jobs.

Well, there's a reason why people chose to look a certain way. Tattoos, piercings, etc...it's an armour for some adults. So, yeah. It's their way of protecting themselves from bad people. Don't try to rationalize against it, it works and they probably aren't as easily motivated by external rewards as you.

That's sad.

I have a phd and because my hair is red (not pick not ginger) I wouldn't get a job?

In Canada actually Ontario you can't discriminate against colour of hair or piercings because they don't affect the persons job preferences:)

I love being able to express myself and not be judged. I wouldn't expect to be treated differently if i was being respectful and polite and knew my job well. People have preferences and that shouldn't be taken into consideration when applying for a job. References and job experience should be the o lay thing that takes place. :)

Oh an I am grown up, a lot of business men and women have tattoos now. They mean something to people just because you don't get T doesn't mean we haven't grown up. You have to be an a "adult" to get a tattoo any how lol man you sound pathetic very sad to judge on someone appearance.

Oh and for my company; I wouldn't hire anyone who isn't grown up enough to see people have more to offer then their looks. I can't judge on my employees hair colour or shoes or cloth s because that's he statement. That her and I like my employees to be not ignorant about the world also. Like this post lol so you grow up.

Fuck lol I told one of my employees I love the most and never change after reading this..

I was speaking to them of a very specific set of people. When you generalize like that, you make them sound like bitter old men.;-)

PS. I try not to judge a book by its cover. Besides, I know a couple of tattoo artists.

I said I don't care what they choose to look like, doesn't mean I'd want to have them as employees. I got denied jobs because of my long hair in the 70's and 80's too - it was a choice. Eventually I matured and got a job, now it seems to be a taxpayer funded lifestyle choice for some.

Depends on what the business is. If I was buying a coffee or some bud, it'd be fine, but if I saw pink hair and pierced faces when I walked into a insurance company, doctors office or furniture store, I would not be a customer. Not much chance of that happening, though, most companies care about the image their staff projects to the public. Right or wrong, it's a fact. I'm 55 so I don't have anything in common with that group of people, nor do I have much contact with them. Nothing personal, but I have no interest in getting to know anyone who is the polar opposite to me. I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

When you exclude others, you're excluding yourself. Divide and conquer, buddy.

I exclude a lot of people from my life for a lot of reasons. I also don't associate with medical professionals, educators, religious people or cops...among others. Nobody has complained, until you.

I remember many moons ago having to shave my Mohawk and take my eyebrow ring out to work at a restaurant when I was in university lol but they couldn’t make me take the tatts off. There is always a choices in life and some choose too and some choose not too. Me, I love art and see tattoos as way to of self expression. I am not covered head to toe but that is cause I choose not to be. I do have them across my chest and down both arms. They represent the story of my life I have a memorial for my grandma, all my kids names the wife’s lips lol etc but that’s just me. :weed:
