my buddy is growing two auto ultimates from dutch passion - one of which is in a 30 gallon and the plant itself is over 5 feet tall and has loads of buds. It's almost ready to chop and the great thing is we're still in early august!!! Grew it for a few weeks indoors from seed and then transplanted outdoors. It seems to be looking like it will be an awesome sativa. The other plant is in a 10 gallon grow bag and it's not bad - has some great nuggets on it too but not as tall or as productive as the one in the 30 gallon.

How do you not get more sunlight than me? Youre closer to the equator.
The equator gets 12/12 year around.

The north and south pole get 24/0 light.

So the further north or south of the equator gets massively more light in their respective spring through fall equinox period than the equator.

Im on the 46th lateral. I use this website http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/Dur_OneYear.php to find out how many hours of sunlight I get. I typed in portland oregon on the map and rob gets damn near the same amount of sunlight I do (except he has things blocking his light). Its uncanny how close it is though. California has hours close to photoperiod grows. Thanks for the tip I didnt know that.

Today's outdoor harvest:
Auto CBD Cheese.

Second one of these, both had some bud rot, here in my marine location

CBD dry sift hash here we come! After a quick sift, the rest goes to infused coconut oil for edibles

Yeah man Ive been busy trimming lately. Ive been trimming 2 autos for the past two days (12 hour shifts so far) and this is all ive got. From two autos. All that bud in the first pic is from one auto barely starting the second today. If you ever hear from people that autos dont yield, send them here and im proof that the statement about autos not yeilding is false.

So I just finished harvesting 3 autos and I have a definitive yes on that 4inch rockwool method. I will now continue to use this technique on EVERY auto (have some photos testing right now with it too) I will grow for the rest of my life (indoors or outdoors) when growing in pots. Heres the proof...
See this sideIMG_1250.JPG
and voila (use the hose as a size reference)
IMG_1251.JPG
Just amazing technique (props to Neil from GrowPotCheaply)
IMG_1252.JPG IMG_1253.JPG
The two root stalks on the left are with a 4x4inch rockwool (with no holes. I repeat no holes. You need the 4x4 rockwools that are a solid block not the ones that have a huge ass hole in the middle. They guy I learned it from said if you use the ones with a big hole in it then it wont work. Also try to go bigger say 6x6 and that wont work either. Smaller than 4x4 and thats dumb too.) the stalk on the right didnt get the 4x4 rockwool.

4x4 rockwool
IMG_1260.JPG 4x4 rockwoolIMG_1261.JPG
Without 4x4 rockwool
IMG_1262.JPG I should have taken a pic of the buds from the plant without the 4x4 rockwool damn. The buds on the plant without the 4x4 rockwool were significantly smaller than the ones that did use the 4x4 rockwool.
A bud from a plant with the 4x4 rockwool...
IMG_1249.JPG The proof is in the pudding guys. I am now a firm believer in the bigger the root system and the bigger the buds too. Spread the love/knowledge to make anyone a better grower!

What is the original source of what you did? Am i understanding you grew in a 4x4 rockwool slab the entire grow? Top fed by hand or Dwc bubbling on the roots?

Its from a guy on youtube called Neil. His channels called "Growpotcheaply." Look for the video thats called "4 inches is all you need for her to explode" or some shit like that (LOL that sounds like a sexual innuendo). Not a slab a cube, a 4x4 solid rockwool cube (no holes its all solid) heres what im talking about...

and the bottomIMG_1264.JPG
No. You can transfer this cube to soil, coco, peat, etc. I grow in coco, so I put the cube in with the coco in the pot. Ive never done DWC. You can drip feed if you want. I use the flex caps (even distribution of water) when I scrog otherwise watering would be a pain in the ass.

So whats the bennift of using this cube into coco rather than straight up coco? And you water/feed right onto the rockwool or around it in the coco? Just trying to see whats going on here.

I posted a pic of the plant that was grown without a 4x4 rockwool that was grown in pure coco. And you saw the benefits (root size). The other plants with rockwool cube were transplanted into coco (my preferred media so far) I could have transplanted in soil or whatever.
And you water/feed right onto the rockwool or around it in the coco?
Whatever media you are in you water just the edges of the rockwool cube (until runoff) for the first week (ive done it for 3 straight weeks just to experiment on my own). The guy says this makes the roots search harder for water and when the hit the dry spots then the roots prune themselves. Then after that first week you water the whole pot always.
Just trying to see whats going on here.
Go to his channel and the video explains it better.

I've finally dried and weighed my giant Blueberry Auto. In some ways a great success, but it was also kind of a tragedy.

Where I live we have a really bad budworm problem, and this summer outdoor was probably my last. This beast of a plant was hit with worms badly, and when cutting it I decided to give it an H202 wash. I had a total dumbass moment and misremembered how to do that (it'd been a while, I should have looked it up but thought I remembered) and ended out washing it in too strong a solution and for too long. Between messing up some of the trichomes in the wash and the worm damage, I decided the whole plant would be turned into hash. Because of that, doing a second manicured trim was unnecessary. I had cut off the fan leaves and and did a very rough wet trim before drying, so after they dried I just cut the buds off the stems and bagged them.

So, the bags in the second picture have weights in grams, and the total without a second trim came to 740 grams, or about 26 ounces. Even if a manicured trim would have taken off another 25% (and I doubt it would take off that much), that would still leave 19.5 ounces of decent "bag appeal" bud. It's a shame this wasn't grown in a better location where it could have finished normally, but at least this gives an idea of what it's potential could have been in terms of size and weight.

As a final note, don't go out buying this seed and expecting this result, I think it was an anomaly. The other two seeds from the bag were grown last summer, and only produced a couple of ounces each. This is the randomness of phenotypes at work.

Sorry to hear about the budworm. We don't get that here in Australia. Great job on the plant.

Thanks, she took well to our garden, the raised bed and soil/fertilizer we use, and the climate. Genetics did the rest. We have a lot of rain in the near forecast, if I were ever to grow outdoors again, I'm pretty sure I'd stick with autos. We have very dry sunny summers and wet falls, and it is SO nice to be done before the rains come.

I've created a couple of auto and auto x photo strains. The auto x photos don't flower under 24 hours of light but outdoors most flower like a pure auto.
Skylotus x auto white widow xxl
Skylotus x auto ultimate
Skylotus x auto mazar
Josh dog og x auto white widow xxl
Josh dog og x auto ultimate.
Last season I did lemon skunk x auto ultimate. They worked out great and harvested them 2 or 3 months before the photos harvested.

Let me ask you.... Are the auto x photo sensitive to light interruptions? Or do they just carry on like an auto would? I'm curious because I have too many light sources outside and it makes flowering photos difficult.

There not sensive to light interruptions . I plant some on the major highways and they still flower fine. They just won't flower indoors under 18 to 24 hours of light. There just like the strains they call semi auto. The bodhi and karma crosses will make them more potent.

You have my wheels turning now, I'm in the middle of my first chuck right now. I could make something like this a winter project and have beans ready for next summer. I may ask you a few questions in the future if you don't mind, I need to think about what I would like for parents.

Interesting,!!
I am seriously considering, a (Grapey Walter (auto)) x (Deep Purple (photo))

Thought only 1/4 seeds auto. However, I can live with semi auto outside. Flowering at anything under 15 hours light is good by me.

Make.some.seeds this winter for next summers outdoor run.
