Any advice for AUTO seed supply or on my general approach?

Good Morning,

Would appreciate any thoughts you may have.

Considering:

I live in Minnesota (legal to grow 8 with 4 in flower) with a short growing season and I personally find it easier to control grow conditions in the winter indoors.
I am just growing for myself and my current supply is greater than my demand. (so I have all the time in the world--except what my advanced years impose)
I enjoy growing as a hobby and to some degree want to grow just because I (now legally) can.
Use CBD hemp flower almost as much as THC flower. (Don't really care about extreme potency but would like SOME 15%-ish or better THC weed)
Think the prices charged for seed is ridiculous--more the principle than the price and probably because I know how much tomato seeds cost.
Don't know anyone in my area to get bag seed/pollen/clones from and wouldn't want to pay for it.
Already have Hemp and Marijuana seeds-- (Lots of regular CBD seed, a few Auto feminized THC and a good number of feminized THC "test seeds".
I'm older but too young to be an old hippie but still think weed is a gift of the earth and should be freely grown, shared and used as one sees fit.

I was thinking:
I have CBD flower covered with all the regular seed I have but want to shore up my supplies of auto and photo THC seeds--(actually I probably also have all the fem THC seed that I will use in my lifetime if I can preserve the viability of the seeds.
BUT for fun I could cross pollen from my CBD regular seed with THC flower and enjoy the surprise of the "grab bag" of potency.
Which leaves me with the "problem" of autos. I could say to heck with the Autos but think it would be nice to have a plant or two around in the summertime and autos might be the way to go considering our short growing season and I would prefer to grow outdoors in summer and NOT have to deal with light deprivation to get to harvest before the cold weather sets in.

SO...to shore up the auto seed supply I was initially thinking I could go through the laborious process of breeding the recessive auto gene into the seed I already have (harder to do with an 8 plant limit) OR reverse an auto plant so I could get an entire plant of auto fem seeds. I'm just not an experienced enough of a grower to know how much of a pain in the neck (or how interesting or fun) this process might be--especially the reversing with silver instead of stress.

Now that I have put this problem to paper, I see I have more of an auto problem than anything.
Is this plan complete stupidity?
What would you do to create your own supply of auto seeds?

Thanks in advance.

Buy regular autoflower seeds online and breed them. But first grow them to see if they are worth smoking.
I have looked for them in the past and was able to find some on a few websites but they were sold out. That does seem to be the easiest most straightforward way, but I suppose I just need to keep dilliently looking. Thanks.

Check Speed Run autos for quality Genetics.in auto flowers. Any of his Granite Hazes, Frosted Cherry O's, Blappleberry, heck I could keep going. Check his site out, class guy as well. The history he puts up on his cultivars is really worth the reading, and gives you an idea of how in depth his genetics go. In my signature line there is a link to one of my last grows, both Speedrun plants. First time I ever yielded a full lb between 2 girls in LOS.
