Organic Growing: An Introductory Guide

Thank you all for the ideas and input. Where I live isn't that cold though. I live not to far from BC and our winters are pretty mild. I wasn't even gonna try co2 cause it's not a perfectlysealed room. As far as fish goes, that's gonna smell like no other and attract bears lol we have a crap load of bears here . I'm not gonna grow in these bags anymore either . I'm gonna use my smart pots from here on out . Greesedmonkey, do you have an idea what could be the problem if it's not the microbes? Something is missing , I just don't know what it is . I never had this problem when using nutes. It's got me baffled. I'm going to try the teas like Rasta said could help, and see what happens.
Yeah man we don't need to see any posts about how you cant work in your room anymore because a bear ripped your legs off! Definitely train your plants out in a way that they won't leave any gaps between each other where light is going down to the floor without touching any leaves. I run 1000 watts and aim for a light to canopy distance of about three feet, how close do you get with your 600s?

I'm at 20 inches right now from the top of the plants and I've LST and topped twice. Amyways, last year I left some trash on the front porch and a bear came to our house that night. About gave me a heart attack. I heard something outside so I went to look out the windows in our kitchen. There was so much reflection on the window from the lights in the house that I couldn't see outside at first, so I got closer to the window and then I see this bear standing up against the window with his paws and face up against it. I about shit myself LOL. So, no fish waste or trash around the house!

There are the girls. All looking pretty good except one toward the back of the pic. It's kind of droopy. Idk what is going on with that one. Hopefully with the tea I'm going to make they can all flower and stay healthy till the end.

I'm looking into building one now . Seems pretty simple. If I want to keep using earthworm castings I HAVE to. The shipping on getting them is more than double what I pay for the actual castings.

start saving all kitchen scrap & plant some Russian comfrey blocking #4 or #14 is sterile so it will not over take the yard
feed that to the worms as well
now is the time to buy crowns of comfrey the larger the better (so that u get more leaf product )
worms can be grown in the house so away from bears , i used to live in AK for 20 years
bears are no joke
https://www.strictlymedicinalseeds.com/product.asp?specific=1603
they be in OR so shipping is reasonable but they do priority mail just fine
great communication i will say
comprey ; i just got mine from these guys all they have is #14
#4 is a larger plant
#14 is drought resistant
I might have that reversed as I ordered both to make sure whichever survives my wheather the #4 is not here yet
i advise who they r once i get my plants as i ordered whole plants from SC

Awesome. I'm stoked to get this up and running. I've been saving all out vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells in a bin. Also collected a ton of fresh bull kelp for it. Some to pickle also, it's awesome stuff .

Very nice! You'll be able to fertilize your plants all on your own in no time.

Hey Rasta, great writeup that you've done there! :D
I love the way you separate soil life and nutrients they are given to process, makes it all very easy to understand.

One thing I'd like to relativate, without getting too complicated: the microbes won't actually DIE under most natural conditions like drought, flood, heat or cold (unless extreme). Or even mildly anaerobic conditions.
Rather, they will usually go dormant.
Meaning, they can be coaxed to revive given the right environment again, but it can take a bit to get them back up to speed. And we can accelerate this process with a nicely activating compost tea.

So when bad things happen, it's not like all microlife will be wiped out (horrors! panic!), just knocked out a bit.
And they'll recover given better conditions :)
Cheers!

You are very right sir! The population will restore itself under favorable conditions, and yeah they don't all die. I was a little doom and gloom about it lol. Trying to make sure no one drops the ball lol.

Ha I imagine any sane human would have shit theirself under those circumstances. Nice little write up @Rasta Roy
