Oregon outdoor 2019

I went out yesterday to build a covering was never able to get anything that worked before it got dark. Needless to say the plants are quite soaked today. We finally did get a covering up this afternoon. We've been trying to shake some of the water off the plants to some degree of success. I have heard of people using a leaf blower on low. Anyone ever tried that?
A leaf blower isn't going to do any good unless you can get your plants covered and keep them dry after blowing the water off. With this rain you can blow them off and they'll just get wet again. I only have a couple plants outside but I moved them on the patio under the awning and am going to put them in the greenhouse..

I bought this cheap greenhouse on sale at Bi-Mart for $100 for starting vegetables and such. It sure comes in handy right now. It has screened openings on both ends for airflow and a zip up door on one end. Worth every penny.

That is Brilliant! I'm going out in the downpour to measure my garden right now! It's the 10 x 20, right?

I also bought the shelves for both sides. It's big enough for me. I didn't buy it for growing pot. It's turned into a catch all shed somewhat.

That's a revegged Ciskei in it. It's been in there all spring and summer neglected. I originally grew it inside but after harvesting I stuck it in the greenhouse. It's a fast flowering sativa and it's flowering so I'm hoping it's finishes before it gets too cold even in the greenhouse. I'm going to let it go as long as I can before harvesting. It's too big to bring inside so I'll have to chop ready or not. After that I'm to try and reveg again and bring it inside and put it in my veg tent until I can put it back out in the spring. That's if I can get it to reveg again. It's only in a three gallon fabric pot of coco so I'll have plenty of room to bring it inside once it's cut way down.

Well, I've put a similar greenhouse on my xmas list so hopefully better prepared for next September.

That Ciskei looks to be an interesting strain. How have you found it? Is it a speedy high, like the Durban is supposed to be? Tried breeding it? We might have to talk... 8-)

Edit: Didn't take long with a quick search to see that you have done some breeding with your Ciskei, and you seem to be attracted to the same, high THCV strains that I am. Any favorites or tips?

My plants have been soaked since the rains started...tried to get em under some plastic beforehand but pulled the dep the day before and am just getting around to rebuilding this sucker over the bed. Fingers crossed...I've been seeing caterpillars and rain droplets galore this season and it's really making me want to build a decent greenhouse for next year...this shit's for the birds. Got spoiled out here last season!

This is the worst season I've had outdoors in years.Have two beautiful Vietnamese Blacks a Skittles and a Gelato, the sativas are about two weeks ahead but everything is only half there, and now one of my indicas is showing powdery mildew this late..Any ideas or is it toast.Had to make a make shift plastic cover to get them out of this constant downpour b.s..Supposed to be 81 degrees on Thursday.Gonns try and buy that Bi-mart greenhouse to save my ladies.Fingers crossed it's not a total waste wash...

PM/bud rot recipes. Here's 2 that work for me:

1g Potassium Bicarbonate (KHCO3) in 100 ml H2O + 1 ml dish soap

or

10:1 formulation of H2O and 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

Either can be sprayed on leaves and buds as both preventive and remedial. I like the bicarb recipe better because the KHCO3 sticks around a bit longer and it provides some foliar feeding of K.

It's been a while since I've posted. Things have been moving along in my absence. The black cherry cheesecake has been a let down to this point. The leaves started looking off in late July.

I tried getting it back and going with some nutes, but it never really recovered. It went into flower about August 15th and was already yellowing up.

The sundae driver has done as well as I could have hoped, outside of some small patches of Pm that really bother me. What is it with Indicas and PM? Either way, I've been tending to that issue as well as dealing with the weather.

The real rain started in portland Saturday afternoon. I completed my rain structure about an hour after the drizzly shit started. So luckily they've stayed out of all this rain we're getting.

It's not looking great weather wise for the near future. It is what it is I guess. I have another plant in a pot I've had fun playing with this season. Started 2 seeds late and I had a male and a female.

Chucked the male in the compost bin a few weeks ago. Transplanted the female into a 7 gallon about a month ago. They were seeds from 2 of my plants from the previous grow. So some form of cherry pie or Bruce banner.

It's been another learning experience on all fronts, hoping to finish out strong.

The tomatoes are an heirloom pineapple.20190904_184409.jpg 20190907_164931.jpg 20190907_171418.jpg 20190910_160132.jpg 20190904_183352.jpg 20190904_183452.jpg

We just got 6/10" of rain in one hour. I heard the thunder storm coming in, and had to run out back, and carry my 15 gal fabric pot to safety. This is going to be a long fall..... Lol

I'll get some pics up of my mess that's (kinda) growing soon.

Premature yellowing seems to be a trait of that strain- I grew 4 BCC in 2015 and they were almost all yellow at the end, and this year I've got one that's already yellowing although it's been fed exactly the same as my Chernobyl which is still a nice lush green. I'm not all that worried about it

I dragged my plants out from under the raincover this morning after 3 days of rain and gave them a good spray with BT- no mold or mildew as of yet but I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that

You got a ways to go but they're looking healthy! Nice job.

Those are two VERY nice looking plants, my man.Thinned perfectly, and budding very well. What week are you in? I thought of using my popup, but the damn thing is dark blue.lol.What I rigged up seems to be working, but is laughable to look at. (4) 16' pcs of black bamboo from my gf's backyard grove, a few scrap 8' sections of 3/4" pvc, and a couple big curtain rods...with a 14' x 16' pcs of scrap painters plastic( the thicker see thru kind, not the window cover stuff) (4) clear $7 shower curtains, and a WHOLE LOT OF DUCT TAPE! Plants are dry and like you got pulled out to take advantage of the 40 hrs of good weather. The best part, the forecast is calling for next Saturday to be 87° again.THAT in itself makes my stress level lower..Although Iij did catch some powdery mildew as it was on a neighbor's near by grapes along the fence where my four ladies have grown this summer. But if anyone out there starts to get it from this wet ass weather, my advice, get to your closet garden center and buy yourself some GREEN CLEAN.Works for bugs,mold,mildew...just about anything and you can use it all the way up to the day of harvest without messing with your flowers. It's natural as it is 60% soybean oil, and 40% Isopropyl alcohol, peppermint oil.etc.I sprayed all four of my ladies just in case. And overnight you cant see if dissipating..Happy growing!

Thanks,bro...A buddy of mine suggested Green Clean..He's been growing for 30 yrs and after two initial good spray downs it's already getting better.Peroxide & water, no shit...Ahhh that would have been about $48 CHEAPER..(12oz bottle, $52..lol)

Thanks for the compliment on the plants. The one in the foreground I worry about the most as those buds are quite big and probably would be prone to rot if not careful.

I had to put the cover over the plants again this morning as it started raining. I thought today was supposed to be sunny and warm :(

We have a vineyard that requires constant attention to prevent Powdery Mildew. We have to spray every 2 weeks during the season. Now with this rain, we have to keep an eye out for Botrytis mold.

One season obviously does not qualify as "evidence", but coincidentally this year's weather patterns match the dominant model for how climate change could impact the NW -- more rain, more storms, more erratic weather.

I don't think I'd bother taking the time to do another outdoor without a greenhouse in place. Of course, managing a greenhouse is its own art form and has a learning curve, but it seems like a worthwhile investment.

Yeah this year caught a bunch of people off guard and scrambling to get their plants covered. Looks like another week of rain, low temperatures and even dipping into the low 50's at night and high humidity. Perfect conditions for bud rot. Rain in itself isn't that big of a deal but when there isn't a chance for things to dry out in between then it's a problem. Fortunately I have a small greenhouse and was able to get the couple plants I had outside covered up and kept dry. A few of my friends are seeing mold, PM, etc... And it's not going to get any better in the PNW.
