bush thought you could invade the living shit out of a country for no reason to look for WMDs that he didn't wait for the inspectors to find all without an exit plan.

when it all went wrong, he could shift the justification for war to other things and leave office with a 25% approval rating.

bush's exit strategy for iraq was to exit office in disgrace and let someone more competent take care of it.

I haven't read the rest of this thread, and I confess I don't have the time to do so, but how silly of Obama--he betrayed his best instincts--to intervene in Syria rather than having future pundits refer to it as "Obama's Rwanda"--in order to claim that he didn't have his finger on the trigger.

The question, of course, is whether Obama, in his 70s and 80s--decades from now--will be haunted by the generations of Syrians who were extinguished by his inaction.

Way over the top
1 Rwanda was over in about 10 days. We could barely get a carrier that fast and then what would a floating island do?
2 Unlike Rwanda, Syria is a civil war the rebels took up arms against it's own goverment. In Rwanda the populace was encouraged by the goverment to kill one of its tribes

1) Bullshit. That's why Clinton regrets it--a few orders could have saved millions of lives, now inevitably silenced. I eat dinner every night knowing how guilty he must feel about his inaction.

2) in Syria, the majority was encouraged to take up arms against a minority. In Rwanda, the minority--by their Belgian overlords--were encouraged to stand up against an ethnic minority. Fuck them.

Congress went along with Bush for many reasons including:
-to go against the Prez after 9/11 you would be labeled a jihad lover
-Bush said he would only go if it was the last Option (he immideiatly kicked out the inspectors and mobilized)
-Bush/Cheney LIED
-Stupid population thought Iraq and Bin Laden were the same thing. And this was helped along with Bush in every speech Using Iraq and Bin Laden in same paragraph in every speech he made

Now, think about this. Why have they shown such an unconcern about the IRS, NSA, Bengay? All the fails of the Admin?

They have been cooking this little war. Notice the timing. You don't think Issa knew they would pull something like this? They were going to make sure there was no investigations at 9/11.

He will vote his nemesis on domestic policy off the Leash for Intervention. And now he has the unenviable job to make that look like a failure if it is a success.

If he does not, then he risks the the President showing actual raw power and ignoring Congress. No good.
