For nutrient free medium I'd do coco\perlite. For lighting check trademe for warehouse lights (any pulse start halide ballast will run hps) $20-40

Hi mate built me room n my basement veg n mother room n flower room with 2 x 600hps with x2 nft tubs n 2 dwc tubs

Nice bro. I run 4 600hps in a 2x2x2 meter tent for flower . 600watt in a vege tent . A few months ago I harvested 4000 feminised autoflower seeds for the coming outdoor season . Saves me cloning hundreds . Do you do outdoors in summer ?

Past seasons I have used potting mix from the warehouse.
They have slow release ferts, so I stand pots in bath before use and pass a lot of water through in case they are old stock, then tip out into wheel barrow & add worm castings.
This season will try terrazilla from hyalite + worm castings (from WormsRus)

As for lights, a significant amount of greed is added to the markup down under for often crap lights.
Best bang for $ = get a QB288V2 kit from HLG. 135 kits bought individually should be just under the $400 limit to avoid customs fee + gst grab.

If you want to run cheap hid lights. Easygrow does a 600w hps deal for 200$. I run metal halide conversion bulbs on it aswell. Two years still running strong.
