New To Vegetarian Cooking

Where to begin? I'll start at the top.

The big brain myth. Our ancestors brains grew when they climbed down from trees and started walking around on two legs. If your theory held any water; lions, tigers, and bears would be the smartest creatures on the planet.

Meat consumption is tied to longevity? Whatever. Consider a few lifestyle diseases related to the consumption of meat. Heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. I've never seen a medical study encouraging people to eat more meat, but I have seen plenty advocating more fruits, grains and vegetables.

Vegetarianism is easy. The hardest part is trying to eat in a world of meat eaters. But I do not believe you could easily do it because as you yourself stated, you do not understand it. You have convinced yourself that diseased and decaying animal flesh actually tastes good. If it tastes so good why don't you eat it raw?

Vegetarians do not require supplements. LOL! In fact, I have never met a vegetarian who takes supplements, but I do know a few meat eaters who do.

But you are correct on one point, it is a personal choice.
It is actually a very popular theory that is ONE of the reasons that humans brains evolved compounded with many others. It has enough evidence to back it up, so please do not call it a myth just because you do not like the idea of humans actually needing meat. Plenty of animals would have evolved such intelligence if all they had to do was leave the trees if we go by the logic that their was a singular cause

And you do not know who I am, so do not tell me what I can or can not do. My mother is a African chef, and we serve A LOT of vegan food, 80% of the menu is vegan. I learned to cook all of the food from her. I could easily transition, but I do not see a good reason to do something like that personally. If the meat had been rotting I am sure I would have been sick along time ago. I check the meat I eat, it is not rotting when I cook it. I have not been sick in a decade. I am standing and perfectly healthy. If you eat meat raw, then you will get sick, please stop using logic that a 5th grader would use. When you cook things the taste changes, raw meat does not taste good, even through raw fish is awesome, I love sushi. In the past century because of big agriculture meat and vegetables can both contain harmful bacteria that will harm the person who consumes it, I not only point to the mass meat recalls but also to recalling of spinach, tomatoes, and peanuts in the past recent years. You do not see this level of harm when you buy free range meat, game meat, and non engineered food.

Is it 70% or 80% vegan? Do yourself a favor and consult your own posts.

I've never met a partial vegan by the way, LOL!

I am not telling you anything. You said it yourself. You don't understand being vegetarian. You don't get it. You can claim you can quit easily, but until you actually do it, you don't know what you are talking about.

Meat begins decomposing the minute it is slaughtered. There is nothing illogical about stating a fact that is well known. And food sanitation should be second nature to cooks, African ones included.

Sushi? LOL! Enjoy your fugu. I'll see you in the emergency room.

And, for the record, the big brain myth is just that. Just because it is popular, as you say, does not make it correct.

Apparently a fifth grader can run circles around you. :fire:

I am just saying that I see no reason to stop eating meat. I am healthy enough, healthier then I bet most vegetarians. I also never said I was vegan just the restaurant has mostly vegan things on the menu. It just so happens that African cooking does not require a lot of meat products.

It is not like I throw the meat on the counter and wait for a few days to eat it. I know basic sanitation.

I never had fugu, and I do not see myself ever eating a poisonous fish. When properly prepared sushi is not only safe but good for you. Any food not prepared properly could harm you.

Edit: In the end its a personal choice, not like it matters what I do to you, and what you do to me. I did not know that the theory was dis proven, I am big enough of a man to say that I was wrong then.

I dont want to get into this argument, i would just like to point out the fact that we are now advanced enough that we dont have to eat meat, the fact that as a society we create life just to take it away for human pleasure is pathetic.
