Yeah the fires were crazy this summer! We had so many! Which fire are you referring to? I remember watching the waldo canyon fire up on the hillside. My mom's house came like 100 yards from being burned down up there, it was crazy! Looked like something out of a movie when I saw the hillside burning!

hey man i had an issue my leaves too, turns out i was just over watering. I gave my plants a few days to drink up the remaining water and checked my soils saturation by pushing a finger about four inches into the soil at the side of the pot. it was reasonably dry. so i added more water mixed with a little bit of high N nutes. they greened up nicely. these pics were taken about four days apart.

That Waldo fire was a mother F.....brutal. I was begining to wonder if they were ever gonna get that bitch under control. We caught some smoke from it for a few days but Im up north further so it was not to bad....winds kept that smoke down in ABQ and them parts....Did you see that DC10 they rigged up as a slurrie bomber.....isnt that incredible ....to see a jet of that size flying at dam near tree top level making drops...I would LOVE to do that...I fly single engine piston driven aircraft....and I did fly a DC 10 once....In a flight simulator...lol I got a pass into United's Flight Training center in Denver.....Long story short...I crashed it...Lol but that was before my flight training soooooo lol

Are you going to be able to keep the tent dark when you go to flower? If this is a room you don't use you might be OK if you keep the lights off and block the window. Otherwise I think you're gonna get too much bleed through that blue tarp.

The blue tarp will be lined on the inside with panda liner and then with a black liner like a blanket or two over the outside when it comes time to flower. The entire thing is sealed except for the entrance obviously, so I'll have to figure out a way to keep the entrance completely sealed during dark hours.

Yeah, you might have to rethink the walls of the room. Also, consider air exchange as well, you want some good movement. I thought you might go to Lowes or whatever and get some styrofoam or plywood to construct a box of sorts. The styro would be easier, duct tape and a kitchen knife to cut and hold it together.. And it's cheap. I know you want to do this inexpensively.
But any light leak will keep your ladies from flowering, and might cause them to hermie. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing if you don't mind plucking seeds. Plus, you get seeds.

I don't know if I am just paranoid like Apomixis said, but I have noticed the new leaves coming in were pointing upwards. I've tried to do research before I posted this time, but I found a lot of mixed results. I have found some people saying they are "reaching for light" so bring your light closer, others say it is an Nitrogen deficiency, others say that they don't have enough water so they go into that "mode" where their leaves turn up and they somehow ration the water they have available by doing that, some say that they are too hot and "perspiring" by putting their leaves up, and allen bud says it's because they have been watered too much lol I don't know which it is! I would like to hear from you guys. There is also some yellowing present, but I think it is the leaves getting over the old soil. The new leaves popping in are green for the most part. Let me know what you think. Dammit I just want to grow healthy plants! :( I might have to suck it up and spend a bit of money after all...

Things I have already checked/done:

1. Finger 2-3 inches down into soil check? A little dry to be honest.
2.
pH check? 5.8ish was the last I checked when I had runoff.
3. Temperature/Humidity? 76°-81°F / 50-60%
4. Airflow? I have a small 5" fan I added last night to get the bulbs closer and keep them cool. It is constantly providing a very slight breeze.

Although Mg is a common def in cannabis.. I wouldn't say Mg unless you're also seeing some yellowing of the lower leaves, working their way up (based on the severity of the problem), intervenial yellowing should be at least semi-noticeable, and you would start to notice small rusty-brown patches on the margins of the leaves, as well as the tips and between them as it went on further. That said.. bring the light closer, if you see less reaching/no reaching.. fastest way to rule out the light before we spike the plant with nutes/trace nutes and potentially cause a problem where a simple fix existed to start with.

Hope this helps,
Fi-

Edit: Ahh you mean Mg magnesium right? Gotcha! I'll try the leaves closer thing.

It's not in the MG anymore. I did a transfer to a simple soil mixture of peat moss, vermiculite and perlite only. No added nutes or ferts. But I will move the lights a bit closer and try that.
Not what I meant chief.. I use: MG = Miracle Gro, Mg = Magnesium .. was pointing to a common cannabis def of magnesium (for many strains), is why I was detailing other signs of magnesium def so it could be ruled out and point to the light which at this point I feel is the first/easiest check done. :)

I think the burned tips and yellowing was a start of a burn.
Yeah, they started to yellow when I had them in the MG soil. I did a transplant about a week ago and now I have them in soil with no added nutes or ferts to prevent possible nute burn, but they are just continuing to turn yellow. At least the first leaves are. The new leaves sprouting out aren't looking too bad I guess.

The new pictures don't look good... The cotyledons may yellow/brown/wither, but those first leaves should be green. I know some people might give me flak for this but, they look hungry for N.
Has it been straight water since moving them out of the MG? What did you plant them into?

EDIT: I am always hesitant to say N def, its thrown around quite a bit on RIU, especially with all the ferts being used... But I am confident they need N... yellow leaves, reddish stem...

Haleo: if you feel like doing a side by side, get some cheap fertilizer at the store, water soluble, mix it 1/2 even 1/4 strength, and spray it on one plant. If you notice a difference, and it will show improvement right away (if its N deficient) by going greener. You will know for sure.
If you have a plant you want to play with.

Those pics were from this morning. Here's an update today when I came home....

Plant #1 (in order from top to bottom above)
This one is my healthiest one, I think. The leaves aren't curling, the burns on the tips are starting to subside a bit and it is still looking green. New leaves coming in strong.
20130306_212306_zps8415159c.jpg

Plant #2
This one looks OK. The new leaves coming in are shooting upward and are growing in length, but not width like Plant #1. The old leaves also still showing the effects of the MG nute burn, but are they getting yellower? I think they are a bit...
20130306_212319_zpsaa36f06f.jpg

Plant #3
This one doesn't look so good. It is growing sideways and kind of flopping to the side. This one is showing the effects of nute burn really bad. However, the new leaves that are coming in are green, but they are twisted and growing crooked, too. I'm not sure what to do with this guy. If anything, this would be the plant I would be willing to "play with."

I transferred them to some cheap soil that consists of sphagnum peat moss, vermiculite and perlite with no nutes or ferts. I tested the pH of the tap in a bottle before I gave the soil a good watering and it read 5.8 so I watered once before the transfer and a little bit after the transfer to get the soil settled around the roots. I watered again this morning before I left for work and came back to the pictures above.

Im sorry apox but i strongly disagree, these things do not even have a root system set up yet, he should not zap them with nutes just yet. Ride it out i agree woth bak that they are still getting over that burn. Too early in life to go from burnt to deficient imo.. But a experiment would atleast give u knowledge if you are willing to axe the runt otherwise, 5.8 is a lil acidic for how young they are again imo,my advice is adjust your ph towards a lil more neutral.

Jesus Christ guys!!!! You had him take him plants out of MG- a medium with all the nutrients he would ever need- into PEAT MOSS? FUCKING PEAT MOSS?! WHAT. THE. FUCK. Are you purposely trying to fuck him up??

Haleo- these guys have no idea what they are talking about. They are having you pH your water while your medium is in the 4.8 range! PH neutral is 7! Your plants aren't showing signs of deficiency, they are dying.
What we have here is really problematic- but reversible. Your plants are basically getting fried. I'm sorry dude but you got fucked with RETARDS GIVING YOU BAD INFORMATION.
MG works with ALL manner of plants, and new gardeners should know that MJ IS NO DIFFERENT. It's not optimal- but it will work. I joined RIU and now all I see how terrible MG is! What makes MJ different? It works for beginners who aren't going to mix a fucking batch of 'super soil' or blend liquid nutes. It's what new gardeners need, it takes the guesswork out.
And this time, what it did was kill a guys source of personal bud. Way to go you fucking snobby prick asshats. Nice job.

If you want your plants to survive:
if you have that MG still around, mix up some of that with your perlite and vermiculite. The two additives are not raising or lowering pH, don't worry about them, they are to fluff up the mix, help it move air (roots NEED air) and hold water. If you want to keep the peat in there ok, but get them OUT OF STRAIGHT PEAT IMMEDIATELY. Your trying to grow weed in a peat bog! Google peat bog and tell me what you see growing there.

Plant them deeper, bury those stems- this is ESSENTIAL. Your plantlets are going to form adventitious roots; roots from the stem. It's a natural reaction that helps a plant survive if it gets buried. These new roots will save your plants. Not too deep, just get a lot of the stems under soil. Also, get rid of the solo cups. Go to Walmart, get some 1" pots. They are meant for plants, they have drainage holes. Water lightly once every two days, or enough to keep the soil damp, not soaking or dry. Just... Damp. (And while we're at it, stop pissing about with your water. The pH is fine. If its good for you, your plants will survive. Want to be fussy? Let a gallon sit out for a day so the additives in it can evaporate or buy distilled. Whatever.) If you want to drench them and let them dry, the plants have little mouths on the leaves called 'stomata' that they open and close to mitigate it, just like in nature. But optimally, you want to give them just enough water all the time.

Start from here. If they survive, we take it from there.

Commence douchebags spitting hate towards me.

Jesus Christ!
I will give you my best shot here Haleo- I feel obligated for being a fucking cock to you out of the blue.
But man! this is the last problem weed I am getting into, this is ridiculous. There is so much conflicting information here.... I can't even start.
I want you to buy a book on gardening. Any book on gardening. Pick to suit your style; Anything by Rodale would be good, they are an awesome institution, but there are lots out there. Real book, Kindle, whatever. NON MJ SPECIFIC. Reference it. Next time, having reviewed the book will make the difference.
Dont let this site fuck you up again. There's a lot of mystical bullshit being thrown about here, and its killing innocent plants.
Apomixis.
