New Prune Technique

maybe this will make sense...
Photosynthesis
yes, we learned what photosynthesis was in 4th grade... lets move on. if the leaf isn't getting any light why does it matter? all fan leaves do at the top is block light from penetrating to the bigger leaves at the bottom and stop the bud from growing further down the smaller stalks what's your point?

sooo.... what about nutrient storage, respiration, co2/oxygen exchange?? they do more than take in light... ever seen buds completely covered in leaves?? they still grow:o

well i've got a co2 tank, my plants are huge already and really good ventilation

so youve got co2 and really good ventilation? that sounds like a match made in heaven. i bet all the plants outside next to your exhaust hose really dig all the co2 that you waste on your weed plants. FYI: co2 is only useful in sealed environments.

i really think you are missing the point that Gogrow and other experienced growers are telling you here buddy. you obviously dont know what your talking about. why the fuck are you going to start a thread asking a specific question, then argue with everyone that knows better then you and tries to correct you?

once again, i'm not arguing anymore with them because they have not given me a legit reason not to prune that way, everyone is neglecting the positives of this method, what's a couple less leaves on a 3 foot plant?

Just some additional input...

Obviously fan leaves help the plant grow bigger, faster, etc being as the surface area of the fan leaves are the biggest leaves on the plant. I try to wait as long as possible before pruning as needed. Usually during the first couple of days of flowering I trim off a few fan leaves that are blocking light. This makes the plant more manageable in space and water/nutes don't waste on these leaves that don't really help anymore. I only trim from the middle down that way new fan leaves help the top grow faster.

what's a couple less meals in your weekly diet??? or hell, why not chop off your hand so you can get taller?? no need to waste those nutrients right??

well if you have 60 or 70 hands yea, cut 15 so 45 get twice the light so you'll grow taller(really bad metaphor but ok)

let me try again... the leaves are where photosynthesis happens, photosynthesis is what makes the plant grow... cutting off leaves does not make other leaves absorb more light... maybe more light shines on them sometimes but, they still absorb the same amount of light, and do the same amount of photosynthesis per leaf... more leaves=more growth capability.. by your logic, i should cut off all but 2leaves at the top and focus alot of light on them, and it will grow the same or better?? if the plant doesnt need them, it will suck the nutrients out of them, stop feeding them, and drop them.

I've seen TONS of posts about cutting fan leaves.

But that being said, and onto the topic at hand, if I have buds low down that aren't getting light, I either cut them off (if early enough in flowering) or just let them be for the hash pile.

I don't focus on the popcorn buds. Just them ones up top.
