before u stud it out and lay stuff

can i say grab some tape and test it ...............lay the outline down then u can use the gear u have or make a tape outline ...............it sucks to build it and find out room to move/work is tight

if u are legal like that ...................when u build the room poly wrap the inner walls and u can install a Co2 outside the room really pump up the buds .......u can use PVC pipes tho the walls to feed in lines/senors just drill a end cap and pass it tho little silcon to seal the hole and u are golden

with the tank outside like that u can change it over and get filled
When Ludacris came out with the rollout song. I would repeatedly sing: layout.....layout.....when I was laying shit out, on jobsites. Good shit man

Oh, I'll be back flipping homes in no time. Lol
It's all about adding on square footage where I live in CA. I'm sorta just relaxing a bit until I get busy on this house i'm in rite now. And than let the demo of my garage :-( begin, and let the flipping start!
But yeah 2X4's make most sense(no offense anyone), just for insulation, and to be able to use cheap prehung metal entry doors from the box store.
The house we just bought is 2200 Sq which is just fine for 3 of us. Since I am retired, I have to clean it along with the cooking and yard work and..... I relax every day
The whole room will be box store built!! :bigjoint:

I had already planned on laying it out. I have done well with the 8'x16' area I have now so adding a few more sq feet will be noice!!!! I am really going to dig going from a 53" tall ceiling to a 8 foot tall ceiling! :weed:

I like the poly wrap idea!! That would also help with moisture and pest intrusion.

How about in the veg area... I will have a small sink/counter top area and an area for some plants under 4 foot floro's. I am thinking a drying closet. Should I set it up for hanging or install racks? I currently hang but have some that goes on paper plates. :dunce:

Keep hanging it. It's still my preferred method.

racks are the best method

hanging ...............i do not like it the drying time is not a steady fixed table

when u use a rack u can lay them out and make sure the air flow tho it is nice with it on the side the flowers will evenly suck water out of the stem and release it to the air .........6/7 days (if it been raining for 4 days i add 2 days to make 9 days in dry tent)

hanging all the water is forced down to the tips so the upper end will dry before the tips of the branches .............the point at where it can release the water is now smaller so it take longer for it to get out ...............this take at least 8 days and odds u will need to clip and hang the wet tips for 3 more days so the cure does not get mold

i used the hang method for 4 months .............i changed to the rack and it has been so much better not one of my jars have been off nor has it gotten any mold

the hang method i have 4 jars go light because of water left in buds and the bud that was stored for more then 4 months mold grew ( u know first grow u store a jar of weed away try in a year compare new skills with old skills)

I have a little bit different experience than you:D
I hung dry for probably about 7-8 yrs.

I switched to trimming wet, and screen drying for reasons i laid out in that other thread. I did that for probably about 5 yrs.

I went back to hang drying ALL of my indoor, about ten years ago.
Picky mofo's out here in CA! I'm one of them:bigjoint:
Besides quality, it sure is quicker taking down large rooms, when you chop and hang! Then but in bins when DRY. Trim when U wanna
Then someones gonna say: "run it through a trim machine, and screen dry is quicker". Well, my
Belief and experience is that screen drying ur shit looses smell. Not just me either;-)

i would only do the hang method if i was doing the dryice with it

get a freeze.........turn it off line the bottom with dry ice blocks then lay cookie sheets over the top of the dry ice string up a line at top and hang the buds over that close the lid come back in 4 days and get buds out jar them up and take out the cookie sheetz scrap it clean

the dry method hang might work good if u convert a whole room and have multi fans going and several dehumidifier so u get a even dry but aslong as u hang them gravity will pull the water to the tips so the buds on the higher part of the branch will dry before the tips do (there is no way around it unless u lay it on a rack or use the dry freeze method )

Circulation in the room is good. Not directly on the buds. 68-70F with 50% humidity. Try it. Dehu and/or AC......whatever it takes. Lol

Alright, in less than a month it will be time for me to be moving my grow out of my current garage loft hotbox and into my new garage. That's right, no more climbing an extension ladder to get to my girls. :hump:

We purchased another house in an upscale location (compared to this farming hell hole) that has the perfect location for my room. The new house has a 7 car garage that is well insulated and heated in the winter.

What I am saying is that I have a blank canvas to start with and would love opinions on how to lay it out for the best room setup! Take into consideration that I hold a medical card and live in a recreational state! :bigjoint: so it does not have to be hidden!

I will be starting off using the equipment that I have.

2-600 watt ballast's
2 cool tubes
1-430 cfm 6" fan
1-240 cfm 6" fan
6" carbon filter
10-4 foot florescent fixtures full-0-lights (3 spectrum's) for veg
the usual pots and grow bags

I want a multi-room setup that is contained within a room. Or something maybe with a large hallway in front of two rooms. Or just a room (flower) inside a larger room. It will have a sink and running water (cold only).
I have thought about two flower rooms on a flip-flop to help with the heat but I love running both 6hunids in one room.

I would love to hear everyone's opinions on how and why to set it up!

:peace:
Congradulations dude!
I say split into two rooms. It will give you more control when it comes to heat and you can isolate problems between rooms. I would make a door that enters into a long hallway wide enough to do your vegg work, and on the left or right have two rooms with separate doors for either flower room. pull fresh air from outside into a flower room, vent that flower room to the other room, use a fan from that flower room into the vegg area, and a fan blowing out of the flower room into the garage or outside.

that is what i tried ...............unless the room is sealed right the best method i have found is the tents

what i did was a 4x4x6 tent
3 lines on top 2 lines in middle and 3 lines near the bottom

carbon filter with a 240 cfm fan (sucking air in the tent once every 25 secs ) 12 inch fan inside to change the currents tho the flowers ...............i based it off tobacco curing methods (what the whole hang herbs methods is )

Maybe you took that shit off the lines too early. I mean, its kind of well known, that hang drying is more even of a drying process compared to screen drying. Bizzare! I tell ya. Lol
**edit:
We should probably not have hijacked this guys thread:-) my bad. We should have discussed this further in that other thread. I apologize to the OP.

well he did ask about drying tents ......so this is a good debate for what he started ...............might of but i gave it 9 days .........after that i had to take it in

the rack system i am using now it is always done with in a week (no water weight lose once it is jarred

Don't sweat the drying topic it's all good for the know how!!

I have been hanging mostly but as said, I noticed the end bud takes longer to dry than the smaller ones so I normally remove the smaller ones and let the ends finish drying on a paper plate or cookie sheet.
I was thinking the racks would make it easy to manage in a closet type room with ventilation from bottom to top. Slide out racks would be sweet!

I don't let my room hit 50% humidity, if I did, I would have PM out the ass! Unfortunately this morning I spotted the Borg!!!!! Mutherfawk!!!! They took control of two plants that I can see so far. :wall: Man I miss winter!! Bustin out the Mighty Wash!!!!

Grow room 1.png Grow room 2.png Grow room 3.png I have put a small amount of time into a mock up of the rooms. Please feel free to criticize what i have so far!! :bigjoint:

The black square on the wall between the rooms is a dark room filter. The area in the corner of the veg room is for clones up top and vegging plants down below. The lights will not be adjustable as I will use blocks to raise each plant closer to the light depending on how big it is. Clones won't be adjusted.

I am allowed 15 plants in any stage so I don't need tons of veg space! The passive intake will have a replaceable filter. I need to figure how I want to vent the drying area. Should I blow the air from there into the flower room and draw the air from the veg room? The door for the drying closet would have a filter installed near the bottom and the gap between the floor and door will be sealed. Exhaust fan will be in the ceiling or the flower room wall near the ceiling.

I will be using pedestal fans in both rooms because I have 3 of them. One in the veg room and two in the flower room. I have a decent sized wall A/C unit of an unknown BTU. Where should I put it?????? I was thinking in the veg room so the air flow would pull it through the flower room.....

FYI... I have a roughly a pound and a half on hand so this room will be built over time. My current plants will be harvested a few days prior to moving so I won't be moving any live plants!!!! :hump:

pull fresh air from outside into a flower room, vent that flower room to the other room, use a fan from that flower room into the vegg area, and a fan blowing out of the flower room into the garage or outside.

I am going with one flower room. You are thinking the fresh air should enter the flower room first? I was thinking I need to pull the odor from there with the carbon filter. That is also why I am leaning towards venting the drying closet into the flower room.

That looks awesome honestly.
I was imagining a different scenario.
I think what you've drawn up is a fine. My two suggestion would be 1, to move your carbon filter to the east wall, looking at your picture, instead of the north. I think the best for circulation would be in the south east corner of your flower room, air will be forced to travel through the whole flower room. 2 force air into the flower room, replace your dark room filter with a in wall fan. that way you can get lots of fresh air into the flower room. If your scared about light getting through, which I wouldn't worry about for the size of the opening, but you could move that fan/filter to between the flower room and drying closet then put a cold air return register between the veg room and the drying room.
Hope this is helpful!

Also, you may want to consider pulling fresh air in from the garage instead of outside. That way you can kinda control the temperature a little better, If its pulling from outside it's at the discretion of nature, but if you pull from the garage floor, your more likely to keep a steady temp. because of ground heat and concrete.
I think you've done a good job though irregardless of my suggestions.

Ok well since u dont have to be stealth or any thing
Then why use tents?
The sketchyp looks good but if it were my room to layout i wouldnt spend the money building and walls or anything.
I would buy a bunch of those lightproof drapes and use those to section things off. Just staple them up and you could always move things around if you like or circumstances change.

I like those ideas! I also thought about pulling the air through the drying area into the flower room. A filter will be used as I use one now and it collects a lot of dust!

Pulling the air from the garage would mean using a crap load of filters! I do a ton of steel fabrication and the huge amount of dust from cutting and grinding would be an issue. I have thought about installing a "T" in the duct with dampers so I could pull from outside or inside depending on what is happening in the garage.

This is a permanent setup!! I have grown in a temporary setup for over a year. The wife say's let's do this right the first time so....... :weed:

Also, We need it to not draw attention since we will be hosting parties. We do have friends who are not on the band wagon and don't feel we should throw it in their faces when they come over to drink, eat and swim! Besides.. out of sight, out of mind and no one tells the world! I have many who I give my overage to and they are cool about it. And, NO, I do not grow for profit!

There is nothing in this world like the feeling of grinding up an ounce of flowers, running it through the bubble bags and tossing it into a lb of butter just to give it away!!! I absolutely love the look on faces when I randomly hand 3-4 zips to someone and tell them to enjoy!!
:peace:
