Are those cups transparent? I read something about the light damaging roots that are up against clear plastic...

Yea the cups are slightly transparent, I noticed the error of my ways AFTER buying the cups >.<

I'll plan on covering each cup with black construction paper or something of that sort.

I also just took the seeds out of the water cups and put them into their own labeled soil cups. I also put a sheet of plastic over the cups to create extra humidity and promote faster germination. This way I can germinate and sow at the same time.

SO NICE!
TMNT for the win!
I've got my eye on this man.
Keep it up!
haha 8-) thanks man, I've had that dude since I was like 4 yrs old. I also plan on grabbing a lock cause unfortunately he's a drunk now and passes out.

weezy: The last frost around here is 4/20 and I'd say around May 1st to be safe is when to throw them outside. Auto-flowering strains, to my knowledge, is ready to harvest around 60-70 days from seed.

I'd wait till AT LEAST April 1st before starting indoors.

Day 2.

Decided to throw all the seeds into the designated cups and poke holes in the sides/bottom. Germinating inside the soil as we speak..

I also put plastic over the cups to create humidity/condensation.

Anyone have any suggestions or comments? Anything I might be doing wrong? Lemme know sons, thanks again for all the support. :weed:

Thanks a bunch man, appreciate the input. I'll go checkout some CFLs tomorrow @ Home Depot. The seeds are getting the pillow next to me on my bed.

Edit: I recently found this in my basement, it looks strong, but I have no idea what type of light it is. Help me out if anyone can. It looks like a construction light and it says, "CAUTION: Do not exceed 150 watts" blah blah, so I'm sure it's a 150 watt ballast or something iuno.

I have these exact same lights i belive they are flood lights and they are very bright lol i was concidering using them too did you find any more info on them?bongsmilie

LOL yea I actually have like 2-3 of them down cellar, but I'm not sure if they're even working anymore.

This thing seems to be BRIGHT as a mofo. I think I could probably grow with em, it says 250W on it so it's pumping out decent power.

Anyone know how long germination in soil takes? :o

I've got them in complete darkness, under the fox farm soil, water once a day and have little holes for drainage.

Oh yes, I also have plastic over the cups to promote humidity.

ha NOICE another NE grower, it's great to see so many growers out here in the England of the New, it's fantastic weather for outdoor once things start heating up (hope I can finish my Arjan's ).

Thanks for the support man, it was my first batch of seeds bought so I'm glad I at least didn't totally screw it up. I have some Mandala Satoris coming my way in the mail as well, but I'm not sure if I'll have enough room in my closet to grow 10 more :?

I'll checkout your journal and anyone else that's posted here. :weed:

Decided to throw lights on now after 1.5 days germinating. I'll keep them on a 16-8 schedule, then once they get to 2nd node, I'll throw on 18-6. :hump:

I AM SO FRIGGIN EXCITED

Edit: MANDALA SATORIS HAVE ARRIVED! Starting germination right now. Check out this amazziing strain I've heard so much about.

I need suggestions for lights. Cheap. Should I get 4 (more/less?) 26W CFLs? (65,000k) or bite the bullet and grab a 400W MH?

I don't want to spend a fortune (cause I can't) but I just had an eerie feeling that I'll be greatly underpowered with my lighting.

I'll be purchasing mylar and other essentials on Tuesday, just wanted to hear people's opinions. :o

you should put them seedlings on a higher level using crates or something so they meet the side lights and lift up the top lights a bit i think it would provide better light coverage while there still small.

peace.

I would fork over the money and get a 400W light system. It will pay off in the end :D

Also, be sure to follow what canibasiva says, your seedlings will be fairly stretchy if you put the light further away.

Ok I'm possibly getting a 400W MH setup, but like I said, it's mostly going to be an outdoor deal.

I'll move the lights very close and throw them up on crates once they sprout. Thanks for the support, how's your grow going shovel? I remember last year I checked out your first grow and followed it pretty closely, I think you even checked out my crappy half ass attempt last year XD

This year will be much more professional and organized. Thanks for the help guys.

hey thanks mate. this is my first real grow, so any support at all is greatly appreciated! :bigjoint:

So should I bite the bullet and just grab a 400W MH? I have a feeling dealing with 20 some odd plants in this tiny area would really benefit from a MH. I also don't want to get a crazy light because I might not have enough room in there until May 1st :wall:
