am i the only one who buries air stones under a layer of nice crushed quartz?
Need help. How do i hold doen my airstones?

seems like a layer of quartz or rocks or anything like that would be a pain in the ass to clean out during rez changes. U could change the water but dirt and other stuff would be bedded within the layer. I'd rather get some heavy stones and not have to worry about anchoring them down with anything. that way you don't restrict the air or bubble flow at all. IMO

i use air line suction cups superglued them on the bottom of the disc an clipped a couple on the sides an airlines worked a treat have not floated in the last 10 days i have the same pump an disc as well this is what i used

Just buy Air Stones like these they work really well and dont move at all no matter how hard the water is moving. They last a whole grow dont break, never leave air stone dust at the bottom and only a couple dollars more than the cheap blue ones.

I dont want things hiding under the marbles, etc. I just bouight those heavy 8.5" round airstones and they should do the job.

I may have missed it when reading through this post but I dont think anyone mentioned stainless air stones. They come in different microns also. They are made for oxygenating whiskey and beer mash and wine at the begining of fermentation. They cost more than regular aquarium stones but last literally forever. However as long as the air stone stays on the bottom its doing its job. Its about the amount of dissolved o2 and circulation of solution. If you have enough pressure the bubbles will be everywhere.
