Need Advice

I have everything ready to go to start my build and have been waiting for my drivers.

Well the drivers came today and the pins are crooked.


If I bend them back is there a chance they will work or are the odds they will break off ?

I waited 8 days for these to arrive and so pissed and to think
I would have to wait another week is not good.

I'm off this week and wanted to get this done .

Are they strong enough to bend back and has anyone ever had this problem ?

crooked or bent? Bent pins can be easliy straightened. Different alignment, not so much.
Which pins exactly, and pics would really help.

Ouch!!! If they're under warranty, exchange them. There could be internal dammage at the other end of those pins.

I don't see any dents in the casings, so, that's a good sign.

If you decide to straighten them yourself (might void warranty), use a wide jawed set of pliers, be gentle yet firm, do it once and don't go re-bending them if you can avoid it.

Or, you could take them to an electronics tech to fix, but that would be an easy $50 (or more).

Just use a small pair of pliers and bend softly the pins to upright position ....
Nothin' to worry about ....
Be gentle ....

OK The place that sold them to me said it's OK to lightly bend them back ( I asked if I could ) and if they don't work I can send them back for replacement.


Thing is I don't want to wait for replacement because I took this week off from work (vacation time) to get this project done so I will bend them very lightly
and take my chances.

I bent them back very gently and so far they are working.

I thought the 700mA driver was broken because that series wasn't lighting up. So before sending the driver back for an exchange I checked all the wiring and led's.

Turns out one led had a manufacturing defect. No pins inside the connector input on the led itself (solderless leds) and Rapidled is sending me another one free of cost.

Tested the dimming for both channels and it works great all the way down to 0%.

Learned a lot with this first DIY build and plan on building another 2 in several weeks.

Will post pics when this current build is complete..still have to build enclosure.


All is good. :)
