hello , a mate of mine was saying hes old man told him to stop plants from getting to tall and falling over hed wait to the plant grows about half a foot then plant it so far down it was only just out the soil , any thoughts on this ?

um no...because the plant grows vertically regardless... The new nodes form at every node and at the top of the stem, so this would not prevent your plant from growing tall. LST and topping can help to decrease the amount of vertical growth though.

The plant will naturally want to grow toward the sun.

If your plant is getting too tall as well as falling over, than you have light intensity problems. There is a difference in a strain that grows tall naturally, and plants that grow thin and spindly, thin and spindly they growing to reach light that they are not getting.
