i have a 100 watt MH Bulb, I got some "Misleading" information from a buddy of mine and said that you can use this in a regular socket. Well I have a work lamp rated for 400watts The bulb fits in the socket (its just a standard light socket) but be for I power it up and blow my house up I want to know if this type of bulb requires a ballast. Cause I could really use the lumens and I cant affored a ballast right now? Any Ideas? :wall:

Yes the light will work within that socket, but you will still need a ballast for the lamp.

usually 100w and down there are electronic ballast vs. the magnetic ballast.

Where can I acquire such a ballast as this? By the way thank you for your help!:joint:

Home depot does not have a ballast for a 400w MH. Ive already checked, all they have is outdoor lamps with ballasts that you hang on the side of your house!
